I've said it before, and I'll say it again, the 2AZFE (scion tc motor) is still an econo motor. Sure it may have a lot of bolt-on performance parts, but it's still just an econo box. The costs of researching and fabrication for a custom swap like this, IMO, isn't worth a motor that marginally out-performs a 5SFE.
It's never been done before... so there are no trails to follow. Is it "possible"? Of course... "feasible"?... probably not considering there are much more powerful engines that pretty much drop in. -------------------- "It's ok to be naked girl... I'm an artist!"

if you want na power, drop in a v6. otherwise, the 3sgte is probably the best and easiest swap cuz its been done so many times. either way you'll be a hell of a lot faster than any lil tc.

yea no offense but IMHO its pointless to swap that engine in. its an economy engine and really shouldn't have been put in the tc for all those ppl who were expecting a stronger 'sports' car. if u want that sort of power just get a 5sfe w/bpu's.

I say do it. You'll be the first. Is it worth being the first to it? Probably not, but atleast you'll have braggings rights to doing the un-done. Swap it and boost it.

personally i dont find a point in boosting a motor that was designed to be n/a. not to mention a economy motor. i helped with putting a turbo on a tc and it turned out to be a big mistake alot of custom fab and trial and error in the end he should have just gotten the trd supercharger. but hey do what ya want it is your car and this is my opinion.

But there is Dezodmotorsports. They have a kit out for the TC. Makes good power. They did awesome work with the 7th gen civic which I owned prior to the celica.

Ok so your friend put a turbo on, boosting, instead of putting a supercharger on, boosting. The point of putting bolt ons is to create more power. If you want to do all the work to put in a TC motor, like your friend did the turbo, you'll end up saying the same thing as you did about the Supercharger, should have done a 3sgte swap. -------------------- |

Try it, it should be easy to get a whole engine/harness/computer, hardest parts will be putting the engine in the car, take measures, fab up motor mounts and figure out what axels you'll need. It has nice torque and should be pretty fun to drive in a light ST and faster than a TC.
By the way that engine is the 4 cylinder camry engine..so they should be a plenty and cheap. -------------------- -Rémy 02 SiR, 08 250R |

Not sure, I've heard many talks about incredible boosted TC's especially one in Arizona. Almost any car you can harness tremendous power. It is just that where do you want to be and how much money are you willing to spend to be the first successful or to just be different.

n/a = naturally aspirated. meaning no turbo (t) or supercharger (z) for forced induction.
an economy motor is designed for fuel efficiency (7a-fe, 2az-fe). a performance engine is designed for power (3s-ge, 2zz-ge). This post has been edited by j0e_p3t: Jan 19, 2008 - 8:08 PM -------------------- ss-iii splitters and 404 skirts are on. which means i need to update my sig. |
