Hello everybody... I started changing the color of my CC. I didn't change the bulbs and they are not busted. I just removed the green condom on the bulb and placed red plastics on the buttons so it would turn out red. At first the bulbs were working but now it doesn't. Even the light for the defroster won't work and they are in separate boards. The small green and orange LEDS do light up but not the 3 big LEDS and the Defroster LED. Could it be something to do with the main wiring harness? I assumed that it is because even my cig lighter light don't lit up and I just did something to the guage cluster lights and added a VOLTMETER where the Voltmeter light is connected to the dimmer switch. ANY IDEAS ON HOW I COULD FIX THESE? When I get the chance later tonight I will test the continuity between the main wire harness of the CC and the Dimmer Switch, see if it has something to do with it. But if you have any ideas and encountered this problem before, PLEASE HELP ME!!!!
Thanks in advance ya'll and may the force be with ya'll wink.gif

OK... so after all the brain bending, twisting and testings and measuring voltage, continuity, and current of the CC unit and the harnesses, I have come to a realization to check the bulbs closely and intensively and BAM... all freakin bulbs were busted. I thought they were all good coz' the first time I place the unit back on they were workin fine. Guess all blew when I removed it again.
Anyways... THANKS A LOT TO ALL THAT VIEWED THIS THREAD. I'M PRETTY SURE THAT YOU HAVE THOUGHT SOMETHING FOR AN ANSWER BUT NOT SURE IF IT WAS RIGHT SO YOU WEREN'T ABLE TO HELP ME. I GUESS THE CLOVERFIELD THREAD IS MORE INTERESTING THAT A HELP THREAD LIKE THIS. wink.gif
PEACE OUT...

you obviously do not have the correct resistors attached to the bulbs wink.gif

Uhmm... thanks for that comment but the CC unit is stock and I didn't change any of the resistors. I just removed the green condom that was on the bulbs.

sometimes what happens is that when you are playing with the cc unit, if you are like me, you might have plugged the bare naked controls to the car, to test it before you close it, what happend to me is that i created a short circuit that melted a couple of lines in the board that took me 2 hours to repair.

a second option is you are handling used light bulbs, and sometimes we may have grease in our hands, some people have recommended that after touching thse kind of bulbs to make sure you wipe them off since it can make the thermodynamics (increase heat) and cause the bulb to fail. ( I never had this happpn)

a third option, is you did not handle them carfully and just the mere fact of being old, the bulbs can easily break off the filament...

or the last option could be just pure bad luck ....

did you fix this...

no, what I meant, if you change the lights to different ones, you have to add resistors, or they will blow...

So yeah... I got them fixed... just as i suspected... busted bulbs. So I want to The Source(Circuit City for those of you in teh US) and bought 2 packs of the 12V LEDS. The mini tiny LED ones and rewired it back to the LED holder. Oh yeah I took the busted LED out of the holder by just pulling the wires and out so I can reuse the holder and don't need to rewire or solder or anything. It worked like a charm!!! wooooohhhhhoooooooo! Thanks guys! I appreciate all the help... now I have a red CC unit. weeeeeee!

It should be 12V nothing less coz if you get a smaller voltage it will just bust out on you. I've measured the voltage across the pads and they're 12V.
