This is so petty but it BUGS me to no end. In my map light I have size 57 bulbs. They're icky dingy yellow and fairly useless. I've been hunting for a replacement for the bulbs I have, but can't find anything other than standard filament bulbs. In my search though I've discovered that the "correct" size is 293. WTF IS A 293 BULB!?! No one carries it. NO ONE. (not parts stores, at least)
Have any of you run into this, and how have you solved it? It seems RIDICULOUS to have to go to Totota to buy these small ass light bulbs. -------------------- |

I've never had map lights [always had sunroof on all 3 of my 6gc's] but there is always a bulb that will fit in the spot if it's one of those traditional but mini looking bulbs - if that makes any sense .
Do you have a pic of the bulb that needs to be replaced? If you take a pic next to a quarter I can probably point you towards an LED replacement that will work. -------------------- ENGINE: '93 RC 3S-GTE/WRC CT-20b [18-20PSI] PERF: TRD/HKS/ARP/NGK/MSD/ACT/Blitz/STRI/APEX'i/TwosRus/GReddy/Magnaflo/KOYO SUSP: Tein/Bilstein/SusTech/ INT: SS-III SEATS/Toyota Hyper Sports EXT: WRC/TRD/404 Its a safety feature so that people like you don't end up killing themselves or everyone around them. It's cold and rainy out and frankly I'm feeling like too much of a chick to go out and take a picture of that damn light bulb. But the size that fits in there is 57, the "Toyota Size" that the little guide books in the stores says it is is 293 or some ****.
I really need to go somewhere where there's some sun. Here's one I found on a web site somewhere out there in the world. SYLVANIA 57 33871 BULB -------------------- |

Yeah - That's the one I thought it was. Pep boys has various LED replacements to bulbs like that. All you need to do is get a rough idea what diameter bulb will fit in there, grab one out of the car and take it inside. There are several bulbs with that size connector but all in various diameter bulbs. Just get the biggest one that fits. They will all be 12v - I've never had one pop before due to amperage or whatever. I'd just keep an eye on it for the first few uses.
BTW - Blue ones will give off a good amount of light if you can't find white. Red will look cool but be practically useless. Hope this helps. Pep Boys doesn't live in the PNW, not in the Portland area, at least. I think the nearest one is like 200 miles from me. I've looked at NAPA, CSK (Schuck's around here), and Autozone, even stupid Walmart, which goes against my core beliefs. They all carry the same brand of Sylvania bulbs for that size, nothing else. I'll keep looking though... V-LEDs has a pair, but I really don't want to pay ten bucks for these bulbs, it seems silly.
