From that angle, yeah, they're similar.
From every other angle, they're a lot less similar, IMHO. Same 'shape' I guess, but the composition and relative size of the sections is very different. |

You'd be suprised how many amateurs come up to me when they look at my car from the rear from a distance and ask me "is that a supra?" or "ohh ****, look--a supra!" Anyway, remember that member ore0, who lived in Hawaii, and did the supra tail light conversion, I've noticed that a lot of people think that he has a supra rear, as a matter of fact everybody--HE DOESN'T! it is a celica hatch rear, and I've already figured out every detail exterior-wise how he did it and what he had to do, i had to compare and stare every little detail and improvise the measurements. i took a picture of the same angle as he did and did the comparisons, and have a basic concept/idea of what to do to do the same crazy mod as he did.
In my perspective, he: - Took his celica tail lights out and pushed out the metal frame that housed the lights and bondo'd the holes. - He shaved the emblems and badges off and raised the supra tails a bit higher than where the celica tails went and positioned them closer into the center so it rear quarter panels woul flare out more giving it a more "supra" look thus having to cut the trunk a bit. - He shaved the license plate area or possibly removed it completely - He must've cut the frame and either custom did his rear bumper or got a supra rear bumper and cut it short to be able to fit the celica's width and made new holes and a way to cut the frame/sauder the frame to hold and reinforce the bumeper and molded it with the rear quarter panels. There is much, much more than what i just listed out, those are just a couple of the most obvious features of the mod but i actually made the designs on paper and ideas of things to apply, but i'm quite determined to do this mod as ore0 had attempted, it's too bad that he crashed his car and doesn't sign on 6gc no more atleast i'm not aware of. But I won't be attempting this mod until perhaps summer or longer if any financial issues arise because this won't be a cheap thing to do. I'm actually afraid to attempt this mod becaues whether i do it myself or bring it to a shop or my mechanic friends, its the cutting-the-frame part that scares me because i'll have one chance and one chance only to not mess up, because having to fix the frame can be quite dangerous and unstable as well. Hence, the reason why many people don't tend to keep their car after a severe car accident involving frame damage. If i ever do attempt it, i'll make a personal thread for it and keep everyone posted with pictures ofcourse. =] p.s. If any of you have the same idea, you CAN get the trd wing and still be able to do it because it won't affect the top part of the trunk--giving you once again, a more "supra-ish" look. |

I can see how one body style was inspired by the other perhaps, but yeah, they're similar but really they are different. (so I voted "indifferent" because that was the closest to "sorta" )
I got the same thing at a gas station a while back; the guy was like Woah! Is that a SUPRA!? I don't know if he was excited that he thought it was a Supra or that a chick was driving it. When I told him it was a Celica, he was like Wow, that's a really nice car! And I'm thinking of everyone's car on here and how mine really pales in comparison and if he could only see the potential of our LOVELY SEXY ASS CARS! -------------------- |

one of the easier ways to tell the difference is the location of the muffler (FWD is on the right RWD is on the left...AWD/4WD I get confused)
could you fit a stock supra(mid 90's) spoiler onto our 6gen's? because that would complete the look :L -------------------- |
