I've been reading up on the size piping everyone uses and I can't decide between 2.25 and 2.5. People argue both ways. My car has a SRI and header. Which will give the better overall performance? Any additional imput is helpful too. Thanks

I think there really isn't much difference between 2.25 and 2.5.. I have heard that 3 is a little big for a NA engine..

but what you have to consider is that NA engines need back-pressure.. so too small and the engine can breathe, too big and the engine looses power from no back pressure.

I made one of these types of threads like a month ago and everyone was telling me that 2.5" was too big and to go with 2.25" just to be safe.. well not safe but you know what I mean tongue.gif But then again I don't have headers so that could make a difference too? Hope this helps a little haha

2.25 will give you "more" low end power
2.5 will give you "more" high end power

in theory....will you notice the difference between the two....no

...and yes, 2.25 or 2.5 hi flow cat, catback piping, resonator, muffler, etc are fine for N/A car...no 3"

Well I asked around my friends as well and I think i'm gonna go w/ 2.25. That's what the majority recommended. Thanks everyone for the help.

I got quoted around 200-220 for cat-back ( includes muffler) Is this a good price? I plan on getting header-back instead and installing a hi-flow magnaflow cat as well so it's gonna be a little more than this.

Yes, that is a good price for a catback install including muffler, but does it include a new resonator? The resonator will probably run about $50, but is key unless you want excessive noise under your back seat and lots of stares.

Is it that bad w/o a resonator? I planned on not getting one to hear how it sounds and then i'd slap one on if I didn't like it. If it costs too much extra to do this I might rethink it.

A resonator (note, not the same as a glasspack or underbody straight-through muffler) is the difference between those annoying buzzing exhausts and a smooth sound, plus it does reduce the volume somewhat. It's more of an effect on the type of noise you'd be making than the volume.
