Assuming he has the bigger V6:
195-200 hp 220-225 tq 3400lbs Automatic

You might be able to beat him, but you better know how to shift.

"Hmm. Ask him if he's the dragon reborn."
"What?"
"Just do it."
".......He said yes."
"Tell him you are not darklings. He should open up."
".......Sweet. Thanks."
"No problem."

the pontiac has a 3.1L 160 hp V6 standard, or if he might have the optional 3.8L 195 hp V6.

assuming he has the 3.1L, Its going to be a close race. Depends on how the race is gonna last, quarter mile or 8th mile. If its going to be more then a quarter mile, then the celica will lose because of the pontiac has more hp. If its less then a quarter mile, then the celica might win.

It all depends on how you prepare for it, aka oil change, deflat front tires, weight reduction, 1/4 tank of gas, race gas, advance timing... ect.

You have to remember the V6 has a more broad torque curve, but its offset by the automatic.

go hurry and get yourself a TRD quickshift kit or a TWM short-shift kit and get a racing clutch laugh.gif
But yeah, I raced a Grand Prix before in my Saturn and I managed to take him on the line until third gear, but my saturn is slow compared to the celica, so just make sure you can shift and launch well. I'm sure you'll be able to keep up.
P.S. on a side note, a 6g ties practically dead even with a 91 240sx (sad because the KA is a ****ty truck motor too)

i wouldnt put money on it....even though they are on 160 hp a cai doesnt add much....your celi is still slow...lol...if you can grab second you should be able to hold him into 3rd but i garentte he goes by you in 3rd gear....our cars fall on their face up top....if you do race him let us know how you do...even if its on the street just say you took it to the track caus you know what will happen...good luck...your gonna need it...hahha
