I havent been posting for some time now because I have been working on my engine project!
Its just about done and I am sooo freakin amped to get it up and running again! I wanted to share my exploits with ya'll because I feel like you would be the ones to appreciate it... so i spun some bearings a few months back and that is what jump started this rebuild. I stripped it down, cleaned it up and got quite a bit of work done... -new pistons, rods, rings and bearings (oversized) -Cylinder bore -Deck cut -honed -crank; ground and balanced -repainted block and valve cover and other various parts -complete valve job -new valve seals -head was inspected for wear -new oil and water pumps -timing belt -new gaskets -clutch -most new hoses -distributor -sparks -injectors.. I'm sure there is more but they escape me right now. But what was freakin awesome was that before the sparks, injectors, distributor and clutch.. I spent less that $1000! This will basically be a brand new engine for less than a grand and really, the work isn't that bad! I will be posting pix soon to show you guys what I've been up to, but i really just wanted to share it with ya'll while I'm getting through it This post has been edited by nightryder: Feb 15, 2008 - 12:25 PM -------------------- The question is not how far. Good Job. I feel like if I did this b4 instead of swapping I would enjoy my car better. Cuz I worked hard to make it run again.

I was playing around with the idea of cams, but that is something that I can always throw in later, so I'm aiming for summer time (next project ) as far as compression, dyno and whatnot, I will be running tons of tests once its done to see exactly what it is that I have done here. for now i just can't wait to get her running! There is some kind of pride you get from tearing your car down and building her back up. not to mention you learn a helluva lot of stuff by doing it. Wow that is purdy. I see how they really can't get that varnish off the round cam lobe part that gets that way when the valves are closed.
Reminds me that I need to send my spare cams off to Webcams at some point. But first I am installing a header and probably a SRI or CAI. |

A little bit of a hold up.... I think the dude at the machine shop lost my oil pump bolts...
I'm going to be fair and say that it was a "miscommunication" and the bolts are now unable to be found... that being said, anyone have a set they wanna send my way? or know a good place to get ahold of them? Auto supply places wont carry them would they? This post has been edited by nightryder: Feb 20, 2008 - 11:43 AM -------------------- The question is not how far.
