oh boy howdy do I ever know! On my car, it goes down below E... to date I've made it probably a good 40-60 miles once the gas light actually comes on. This isn't the best thing to do for your car though, because all the sediment and stuff that sits at the bottom of the tank will go through your injectors, engine, etc.

If you want to test your gas mileage, do the following: fill it up, drive it till empty-ish, refill completely. Divide number of miles on tach by number of gallons put in on refill. Voila, that's your mileage.

after doing what griff girl said, you can multiply it by the tank size to get your projected mileage possible. Theres no need to go down to E when testing gas mileage. I recommend never going below 1/4-1/8. Hope this helps

well how bad is terrible? I get around 24-25 almost everytime i fill up. but if drive like a normal person i can 30mpg no problem. Alot of MPG is how fast you drive and accel and all that.

We have 15.9 gallons in a tank, i have done this many time where as soon as my E light comes on i fill it up, when i do that i have never put more than 12.5-13 gallons in it, so that leaves about 2 gallons left so depending on how you drive your looking at another 40-60 miles past E.

get like a 2 gallon gas can and have a couple gallons in it when you are near E so if it dies on you, you can coast over to the side of the road and put enough in to get you to the station without a tow. If you only put in a bi of gas it wont throw off your numbers.
