First let me say; "Welcome"

So your new to car mods eh? Thats Fantasterific!! Rember that there is no such thing as a stupid question, Only stupid people who dont ask questions Dont forget to read the stickys, (the first fourms when you chouse a catagory) They contain more information than you can handle. Really, i read them all and now i have to take medication What are you looking to do to your car? Pics? 400.... hmmmm... Well, you can get your intake, thats for sure.
There isn't a company that makes them, other than Injen, but thats a SRI. You can get a CAI (which is much better... sucks up cold air instead of hot air from inside the engine bay.) on eBay, so I'd hit up eBay and buy an intake. Or you can shop around in your area with exhaust shops and get a nice exhaust made up for that much. Many different possibilities. Good luck and welcome to the forums. -------------------- 1991 MR2 - T-tops - Crimson Red - Gen3 3SGTE - Lots of money

Oh speakers are good, But if you trying to get door speakers to be full range... Then rember that it's rare to find our 8in round size.
You may have to go with 4.5x8's to fit, or modify your brackts. But that's all been covered a million times in the wireing/electronics fourm. -------------------- QUOTE (presure2 @ Nov 6, 2010 - 6:16 AM) Via FB: fcuking awsome!!! D-man FTW! Go to howstuffworks.com and key word "everything" Spearkers have 2 wires coming out of the cone. One is positive and one is negitive. You simply hook the positive feed (from your head unit, Stereo, Radio, Ipod, or other electronic noise making device) to the positive wire. And the negitive feed with the negitive stereo wire. IF you cross them, It dosent matter... Your cone will still play. Although depending on the speaker it may reduce speaker life. 4-way has 4 different "speakers" in it. Some are big, and some are small, some play highs and some play lows. Being a name brand product, it should be be prewired with built in cross over. Crossover makes sure that the right speakers are playing the right notes. EX: a tweeter plays a high note, a woofer plays a low note. it is the crossover's job to ensure that that tweeter plays those highs and not lows, Same for the woofer. Subwoofer and woofer are the same thing, Just abreviated. In my house we call em SaBoofers, because my wife cannot say sub woofer... (She's Salvadorian) Neither can my daughter... That'll start you out, Now goto how stuff works dot com and get cracken!! -------------------- QUOTE (presure2 @ Nov 6, 2010 - 6:16 AM) Via FB: fcuking awsome!!! D-man FTW! Watchin them do it sounds like a good idea to me. there's a big difference between knowin which wire is + and which is -. The more difficult part is getting those wires where they need to be. I don't think many OEM setups are straight 'pull this speaker out and replace it with this one.' Haven't looked at the Celica one though, could be wrong.

Although depending on the speaker it may reduce speaker life. a note on speaker positive and negative...it is very important to correctly hook up speakers in regards to positive and negative. sound is reproduced by sending electrical pulses to the speaker from the amplifier. these electrical impuses are PHASES DEPENDANT. that means that the voltage crosses the ZERO point and can be negative or positive. if hooked up incorrectly there exists a state of improper electrical phasing. that means that the left side can be "pushing" air when the right side is "pulling" air. the result is that the sound is perceived as weak or thin or boomy. unless you know exactly what you are doing or have a good coulour code chart of the pinout of your equipement...leave it for the professionals. that way if it doesn't sound right you can ge them to troubleshoot the problem and avoid doing things like frying your amp or speakers. -------------------- |

with 400 you can get yourself ebay headers (note that you're going to need the heatwrap as well I suggest you get DEI brand, the rest apparently aren't too good), and an intake. You should have approx. 200-250 left, however a good start is to always dump your money maintaining and fixing your car back up to good shape, just because our cars have some years on them.
Also about SRI and CAI, one sucks in hot air, and one sucks in cold air. Now i've heard about CAI being the better choice but they're both not bad. I personally have a SRI with the split head dual intake. Engine never heats up even when I go at higher rpm's or redline, the temp will go up and then back down. |
