Im pathetic. I got a 2008 VW GTI in September of 07 because the Celica was just requiring too much TLC that I could not offer it. Well the odometer reached 11,000 miles yesterday on the GTI (its 6 month anniversary) and then today I see a pic of my celica on a guys Myspace and I started tearing up. I miss it so much! I dont get the same looks or compliments that I did with the celica.
I feel stupid for missing an 14 year old car but it was amazing and beautiful. I feel like I gave up a kid for adoption. -------------------- Cruisin down the street in my Infiniti...always lookin for my next trip to Sin City

my dad cuz it was technically his car since he bought it for me when I was 17. so 5 years and 135,000 miles I put on it and it was gone just like that!

Yeah the VW was definitely not my first choice for a new car but when you have no credit history you kinda take what you can get. The VW is quick but jeeze it is no celica. Im glad you can relate to what I went through.

honestly? probably never cuz im not sure I could love one again unless it was my previous one.
Im hoping that the next car would be a Toyota or Infiniti but since I am leasing the GTI and i have put the maximum amount of miles for a year in only 6 months I think im kinda stuck to buying a VW or Subaru 3 years from now when I go to turn it back in. -------------------- Cruisin down the street in my Infiniti...always lookin for my next trip to Sin City

Thats one of the big reasons I dont wanna sell... I'm afraid I wont love my newer car like I do with the Celica. Its not so much the compliments it gets, but just with all the hard work that was put into it that made it so personalized...
Damn thing is like my overly spoiled child. I know I'll cry myself stupid the day I sell that thing. ugh... -------------------- 2003 Nissan Murano SE |

yea but natalie, it sounds like your having second thoughts about ur brand new car... i mean one doesn't spend a large amount of money on a new car just to pick their second choice. u make it sound like u didn't have a lot to choose from with 26k..... plus when u got it, u didn't sound displeased about your choice:

QUOTE(BlackCelicaGT94 @ Sep 23, 2007 - 10:56 PM) Someoen suggested at work I take a look at the VW's and once I drove the GTI that was it. I was hooked! Im hoping to sell the Celica to a local 5th gen celica owner QUOTE(BlackCelicaGT94 @ Sep 24, 2007 - 11:40 AM) I didnt buy it for performance. I bought it mainly because I liked it and it was a nice car to drive. I wont be modding it anywhere near as what I did for the Celica. I will just tint and exhaust. so yea im just confused as to why now you are saying "the gti wasnt what i really wanted" if u didn't buy it for performance, and im pretty sure u didn't buy it for looks, why care how many people compliment you? im just saying, dont beat urself over the head about getting rid of the celica. just be glad it went to a good place. maybe u can buy it back later. i dont think you're pathetic, just experiencing a wave of nostalgia that will always come and go..... -------------------- |

your not pathetic for missing your old car (i have to admit I miss my first car, an 88 civic of all things from time to time,) times changed and a new reliable car was needed thus what you got, I would deff not have recomended buying your second choice but the choice was yours and for the kind of money a new car costs its very hard to think it was your second choice but rather your first choice at the time. as there are many cars just as good for less (in my opinion only of corse.) I think If i had sold my celica back right around the time the motor went I would have really regreted it but since its been in storage for a good year and 6 months I cant say I really miss it, just look forward to the day we join foot to peddel for another joius romp on the pavement.
I can kinda understand the want for complaments but only in the sence that I belive you can tell a little about who people are by what car they drive so someone saying they like you car is kinda like them saying they like you.... however it really should make no diffarence to you, since its your car its up to you to decide if you like it or not. (says the guy who created a poll to see what cars he should keep ) :edited 10 times for spelling at least. This post has been edited by creis: Feb 26, 2008 - 4:10 AM -------------------- |

I will admit that I didnt take the time to wander over to the Subaru dealership and look but I was limited to that one dealership that I went to because we went to 3 before and none would take me cuz of my bad credit. This dealership I ended up with only took me cuz we had a connection there and they made it work. Out of all the VW's I could have picked Im happy. I do wish I went back and looked at Subarus though. Its not just the car Im not happy about I think its the group of people who own the GTI's that are making it harder for me to not love the car. I think alot of you know I was very active in the Toyota groups in the Northwest. I get a GTI and try to get involved but the people are way different and so now im just left being a car owner who drives from point a to point z. -------------------- Cruisin down the street in my Infiniti...always lookin for my next trip to Sin City
