I should really use it, i have like 160ish kms on it but im starting to think that it may be miles :S so thats quite a bit of km's! i got the cars vin looked up here at toyota cause we know someone there and they said it was never registered in canada...and the gauges are aftermarket and in miles....i too wouldnt mind a write up if anyone had it cause i dont want to mess anything up either.

The brand is Sea-Foam and its in a metal can with red writing. We did it to Havok's GT with 209K miles on it, and it ran a lot better afterward. The hose we pulled was one of the ones on the pass side of the throttle body, and it worked fine. As long as the hose you pull off has suction (just put your thumb over it and see), it should be fine. Just make sure you keep the rpms up, and DON'T DO IT IN A GARAGE. As much fun as that was playing 'ghosts in the dark', it can get a little cumbersome.

This is the hose I used, disconnected from the end the arrow points to. 224,000 miles on it w/a 90k engine. Run engine until warmed up. Get a plastic water bottle that has the sport-nozzle thing on it. Make sure it's DRY inside, and pour about 1/3 of the can of seafoam into it. Use that disconnected intake hose to then suck the seafoam, w/the engine running, up. If the engine stalls it's fine, don't freak out. After 1/3 is sucked up, shut car off right away. Let it sit about 5 minutes, then restart engine and rev it or drive it around, just burn off the carbon/seafoam, it'll be smokey but it's okay, that will dissipate. Key is, do this literally just prior to doing an oil change. You don't wanna drive around w/engine gunk running back through everything you just cleaned out. Pour another 1/3 into a half-full gas tank to clean injectors/fuel system. -------------------- |

This sounds very interesting, I might have to try this stuff out... -------------------- |

well, burn the stuff off first, run your car until the smoke dissipates, and then do an oil change. I don't think it'll kill ya if there's a day or two between the seafoaming and the oil treatment (okay so I know it won't ) but it's advised to change your oil after the seafoam treatment.
I've read differing opinions about adding seafoam to the oil. Some people have done it I guess, but the predominant sentiment is that this is a really bad idea. I'd skip it. (It's my understanding and belief anyway that oil additives really aren't the greatest for your car anyway, except for a very few select products out there) -------------------- |

I did it to my car before, but I did it through the brake booster line. Many of you are suggesting going through the throttle body, so if I wanted to do that, would it be the hose that I circled?
Also, would I take off the side that's on the valve cover? |

I didn't change my spark plugs after doing it. in fact, I did it after I did a tune-up. I never had any problems, it just would be better if you did it before a tune-up.
as space panda said, any line leading to the intake manifold which has vacuum (suction) will work. if you were to use that hose (I believe it would have suction) you would pull off the valve cover side of the hose because you want the seafoam to enter the intake manifold. -------------------- 94 GT - Sold -------- 69 Pontiac Lemans - Sold 88 Alltrac - Sold ---- 04 WRX - Sold 00 GT-S - Sold ------ 91 Miata - project/drift car 95 GT - Sold -------- 96 GT - New Daily Drive |

Oh my god.... I love seafoam as well. I put in a full bottle in my gas tank about a week ago and it was a lil better. I needed an oil change, sucked it in through my intake and changed the oil and oh my god... I honestly feel like i've got a car that has under 50,000 miles. She runs so much better, no irratic idling, and my goodness the gunk that came out when I was changing my oil(yuck). But now I believe I have found a small exhaust leak cuz I had the white smoke comin out from one particular part of the exhaust under the hood and need to change out some seals too cuz my engine bay started blowin out some white smoke as well....... I love this stuff!
