QUOTE(Remy @ Mar 4, 2008 - 7:40 PM) ^^^ lol you two are funny you guys said the same thing my co-workers said. All of you have a good point and yes I've heard body filler can crack on you if done improperly. All the shops I went to said its either they do all the work or they do nothing at all, because they won't be able to guarantee the quality if they pop it out only. I was thinking about taking the whole pass side interior out where the dent is and go at it with a slide hammer maybe I can see if I can get most of the dents and crease out ?? I don't know what a unispotter is lol I don't know how to use fibreglass too and not sure where I can find it. Thanks for all the input. Edit: Forgot to say surface rust is starting to form on the exposed metal mostly the top one so thats why I want to get this fix as soon as I can I don't want speed holes lol okay; filler cracks if layed to thick. I wouln't gaurentee surface work if i didnt know what i was laying the surface on either! lol. Can't blame the shops; i wouldnt do it as your friend just because it can get blamed on them if the base cracks and tears the paint; then they're out of money for no reason. Understandable. Not cheaper, but understandable. Fiberglass is EASY work; I have this conversation with everyone. It is NOT as scary as people make it out to be. it's.... difficult to describe, but if you get your hands on it; it all comes clear. lol. My fiberglass quote is this: "The hardest part of fiberglass fabrication; is staying sober while it's drying" That quote is a repost 500 times over~ lol. If your savin money for the work, than goto walmart and buy a $2.00 can of primer and spray it. The cheaper the better. If you a few months- up to about 2 years the cheapest primer you can find will save the panel until you get it done. Plus it sands off easer! 2 dollars for 2 years, you cant beat that with a stick~ -------------------- QUOTE (presure2 @ Nov 6, 2010 - 6:16 AM) Via FB: fcuking awsome!!! D-man FTW! That's weird because I was hit in almost the same location except on the driver's side 2 weeks ago, but I know who hit me so his insurance will cover the damage. It was about $1200 damage. I feel your pain.
I would get a professional body shop to do the work if you are not well equipped to do bodywork. Your car seems to be in too good of a condition to perform a hack job. Sometimes guys that work at a bodyshop will do "side jobs" and will be less expensive. Just a thought. |

Use a body hammer silly thats what they are made for.......to do it properly you need a body hammer and dolly to "pop" it out and partially remove a crease and like the DMAN explained fibreglass is really easy!!! its like fill, the short stranded stuff is thicker, and you mix it with a hardener too, althought this stuff drys faster than fill so once you mix in the hardener start spreading it, let it cure then sand and shape it like fill! then you fill over that then you use putty.... once again dman and i agree how weird...lol jk feen This post has been edited by speedfeen: Mar 5, 2008 - 9:11 AM -------------------- FEEN |

I though slide hammer was a body hammer ?? I'm more of a DIY guy so I would rather learn anyways then take it to a shop . The damage doesn't look to bad I think it looks worse because of the salt I'm more worried about trying the get the wheel arch back(Its completly flat) , I have done almost 2 weeks research on this although I never considered fibre glass for the repair I'll look more into that. And thanks for the offer Joe but I don't like to bother people.
