The mounts that hold my left headlight housing broke the other day and Ive temporarily put some krazy glueon there to hold it in place but I really need to replace it soon. Does anyone know how much the headlight with the entire housing assembly would go for?

wait, just the tabs? if that's the case, fiberglass em back on. BC factory wants near $200 or more, and any good deals you find are going to be at least $100+

If all thats broken is repairable, then fix it first. And if not then send it to me so i can fix and resell it biggrin.gif

DUDE! stop now.

Go to walmart, go to the automotive section and buy a "fiberglass kit" for $10. okay? Now, follow the directions and put that thing back together.

Auto shop is going to say it's unfixable; charge you dealerhsip price for a new one, then labor, and installation, then tax...

that kit comes with everything you need and then some. You will not be needing the fibercloth. Just the resin hardner, and the mixer-stick and cup.

Clean the broken tab; and where it attaches really well. Poor about 2 ounces of resin into the cup, and probly about 15-20 drops of hardener. I'd just give it a quick squirt. Mix it up really well; and If you have spray adhisive, go ahead and spray the tab and the the housing; just give it a *quick spray where your going to be sealing. then apply a layre of fiberglass mixture between the tab and the housing, and hold it together for a few minitues. If your wife has a blowdryer that would be fantastic for someone to hold to dry these parts. After it begins to hold enough for you to take your hands off, Apply more. get a good coat all around the break in the tab because your going to want it to hold.

Let it dry, and BAM, it's fixed. yeah, it looks kind of crazy, but for a 15 minitue job, You'd look kinda crazy for speding $200+ lol. Besides, it's not how it looks, it's how it works. wink.gif

Happy glassing~

Is fiberglass going to be sturdy enough for something like that?

What about using steel reinforced putty? I'm not sure how it'll bond to the ABS, but it might bond pretty okay, then you can shape it, let it set and it'll harden to super-duper hard. It's drillable too, so you can drill it out once it's hardened, and be able to securely fasten that bolt!

you could, but the word "overkill" comes to mind. besides, this'll hold, it'll hold just fine. With a good squirt of hardner, it'll be as hard as as the ABS and will seal like no-body's business. Cheaper too!!

i've also heard somone say you can JBweld it... Whatever~

I'd glass it personaly, hey, if you wanted to you could re-fabricate one out of stainless steal, lol. Just gotta know what your doin is all. I'm just comfortable with Fiberglass....

Overkill? Really? It's just a little tube of stuff, like the size of a cigar... it's pliable and easy to shape... but this, coming from someone who recreated an entire air induction box out of that stuff and a rusted shell of what was left of one. Gotta put the BFA to practical real-life use. biggrin.gif

After you get it fixed, there are a set of screws that control the vert. and horozont. angle of the beams pitch.

Just adjust those screws untill the beam sits comfortable for ya. Requires 1) Philips screwdriver. I know that's alot of tools, lol, but i think you'll manage.

Also, you can use a socket; i forgot what size though... (like 10mm??)

Ok so the break is kind of weird, the whole top mount of the headlight is broken in two pieces.. one 1 inch long piece at the top (with the hole for the screw), and then another piece that just kinda shattered from the plastic headlight housing itself. Should I put the fibercloth on the headlight housing so i will hold better?

I can take pics when i get home and post em here

I kinda understand what your talking about, but to know if it needs reinforcement or not; or if clothing it is even practical without adding dead weight, i wont know till i see it. Shoot some pics and PM me a reminder; incase i forget to check back. (i have the worst memory lol) but i really wanna help you set this right; and keep you from getting your wallet molested at the Auto Shop. laugh.gif

Yeah, an Apoxy would work well also, but it wont last as long. (but we're talking year(s), lol) Apoxy/Epoxy are basicly just SUPER-DOOPER-Glues, lol.

Would work well; And i'm not knocking that idea 95st-celica, It is a valid point. And it's all up to EMachine for what he uses.

Lol, as said before, It really depends on what your comfortable using. I love working with fiberglass, and the fact that you seal it, then reinforce the break as so it's stornger than the rest of the ABS lol, i love that idea.

Apoxy/Epoxy, Putty, Superglue, Screwing in a Steel Bracket, Fiberglass, Duct Tape ( laugh.gif ) Are all capable of working. EMachine, it Matters what you would like to use. Everything has an advantage and a disadvantage.

lol, We're such a helpful bunch, this guy is going to goto wal mart and spend $100 on different stuff... lol, and test em all out laugh.gif laugh.gif laugh.gif
