a little off topic but i didn't think i'll get answers if this was in the off-topic section... sorry if its against the rules....

i'm trying to get a hood overseas and was wondering if your guys had any trouble or damage to your hood when it came in the mail... the seller isn't gonna ship it to the US just because he says the item will be damaged during shipping. You guys think its safe to have a hood shipped overseas? how should the packing be done?

i had my gt4 hood shipped on a crate with the bumper and fenders so it's not like it was being handled by hands. anyway they were individually boxed and the hood was reinforced with extra box material along the corners (very important!) and along the edges. extra bubble material should also cover the whole surface area of the hood to protect it from dents.

the packaging should be done HARDCORE!! lol. I've heard so many members, on this site as well as many others, have hoods damaged just from state-state. I could only imagine what could happen shipping overseas with a commercial company such as fed-ex or UPS...

Fed ex just recently ruined another members CF hood if IIRC. But how else you gonna ship it? Just be sure to insure it for enough to cover the parts, packaging and freight if need be.

i had my trd wing, gt4 bumper and hood all shipped from malaysia to canada using DHL, they were good and very quick. No damages neither, only bad thing was I had to pay COD for customs mad.gif the hood alone wasn't cheap.
But then again, i only heard that DHL is good within canada, if in the US, it's bad apparently.

Like I said - just pay the optional insurance so you won't be out anything if it does get messed up.

STOP!!!! If he doesn't offer insurance than you should NOT buy from him. It's totally ridiculous to not offer insurance on something like that. If you can't insure the hell out of it, and don't care if you're throwing your money away, just send me the money instead, I need help paying my electric bill this month. That way there's no wondering. smile.gif

You can insure it with the freight handler yourself BTW. It's just an option to choose when filling out the BOL.

Fed-Ex will allow it... I'm not sure about the rest. Yeah, international shipments though, that does require a bill of lading; you could do that; but then if it's broken when she recieves it, will she get credit when it arrives as broken as it started?

Common death, you know there is a reason this shipper wont insure his stuff, and you also know how to break hoods laugh.gif
