I have this alternator that was used for a few months but was put in the wrong car so the wiring was burned out... needs an electrical rebuild; brushes are good, housing is still clean even. I hate feeler threads but I'm debating whether to get it rebuilt and sell it or sell it as-is. Won't work for a 7AFE, best application is for a 5SFE or 3SGTE. I've got an email to the manufacturer out to get a rebuild quote, or you can save yourself the money and do it yourself if you know how. Remember—it's a high-output 160 amp. Manufacturer is Startech - see post below for pix.

Offers? Pix on request of course (if needed - but it's an alternator. They all look the same! smile.gif )

edited for accurate amp description.

what manufacturer?

Oh, sorry. It's a Startech. And it's 160 amps, not 170. My mistake. I'm in touch with them now to find out what the repair cost would be if someone chose to send it in to them. It is my understanding that all it needs is the electrical connectors in the stator, hense it needing repair, not a rebuild.

Here's some pictures of the alternator:

kind of a close-up of the inside, as you can see there's no evidence of excessive age or wear, it's pretty clean actually, just normal dust. No grease or anything funky.

This is the label; it's creased where the front and rear bracket meet, but the sticker is actually intact and not torn.

It's looking in the neighborhood of fifty bucks to repair if you send it to Startech; more or less if you get it done locally. It doesn't need a complete rebuild, or else it wouldn't be worth it. Needs electrical connectors - anyone handy with this kind of stuff could probably do it. I just happen to know ZERO about repairing alternators, so I'm reluctant to do it myself, especially if I'm gonna sell it to someone else. I'd just as soon sell it as-is.
