QUOTE(DEATH @ Mar 14, 2008 - 9:43 AM) 6'3" 200lbs isn't big enough? As for the rest of that statement - thanks You know we're just messing with you - can't give a compliment like the one above without bringin you back to reality with a lil verbal bitch slappin Back to topic: Get yourself some seats [like either of the ones above] that look right already. Then go to the cloth store and get some cloth that matches and do your door cards [easy mod and I want to do mine too so we can make a day of it]. Then we'll find some paint that will match and start adding accents. I think Griffgirl has a link to spray paint with various colors available and I know a parts store that has probably 100 diff shades of high heat engine and caliper paints - all of them $5 a can. I think it's best if you find the high heat paint first as it'll be the hardest to color match if you buy other stuff first. That would look truly sweet. Sorry - not trying to plan your car out for you - I'm just really stoked about the transformation of your car. Anybody have a spare door card that I can use temporarliy to make a template? I know, it's all good. [ reverse quote ] can't bring you back to reality with a lil verbal bitch slappin without give a compliment like the one above. [ / reverse quote ] Really though, I've know of dye's work for fresh fabric, provided that it's white; That's how we did it on the VC's rides... that's why i was asking about bleach. Door cards, the fabric piece in the doors? i was actualy wanting to pull those off and look into fabricating a speaker port there... Plus i still gotta figure what parts i'm oranging out and what parts i'm not. Calipers do need paint... plus i still gotta put some more silicone grease on that front driver break pad, it's gotten squeeky... Prly just needs grease... Need rims, i've got some pretty rotors, and gunna paint the calipers, and still rolling on factory alloy. LOL!! QUOTE(hotgoods23 @ Mar 14, 2008 - 9:56 AM) h8t to burst your buble but do you have the seat brackets or are you going to customize them yourself I too wanted to do this until I found out about the seat brackets Seat brackets? I was talking about making seat covers for the existing back seats. or removing them all together and adding the baby "drifter" seat in the center (secured to the frame of course) and Glass in sub enclosures on the sides. For a Convert, that'd be sweet. Then i could have my trunk back You want to add buckets into your back seat? That could be done easily enough, but i wouldn't recommend it. Those buckets are WAY to big to be stuffing in the back seat. Go do some measuring first, then measure again. And if you still wanna do it; then i'll tell ya how. -------------------- QUOTE (presure2 @ Nov 6, 2010 - 6:16 AM) Via FB: fcuking awsome!!! D-man FTW! Damn D-Man - most impressive. QUOTE(DEATH @ Mar 14, 2008 - 11:33 AM) Wanna start another bet? Indeed ... Tubby Wern't you at my house the other day going on about how you were 180 and you only had to work out 2 times a week for just a few min. and you'd retain you "shape"? Unless you put on a few more LBS since then... And i even bought light beer, i didnt think you'd stack it on that fast. Kidding-Kidding But really; what is behind the cards in the doors as far as panels go? I'd be intrested in doing something with em'. And what is this i'm hearing about 4 and 5 point seat belts? they have to be angled 45 degreese from your sholder? So they'd go from my sholder to the back glass? Can anyone enlighten me about this? i think i've been doing something wrong in the past.... -------------------- QUOTE (presure2 @ Nov 6, 2010 - 6:16 AM) Via FB: fcuking awsome!!! D-man FTW! Enough about my weight - I'll prove it to you.
Back on topic: The only thing behind the door cards is the fake leather from the rest of the door panel. So if you take one off it will look funny to you but probably normal for everyone else until you get your custom ones made. I don't really want to take mine off cause they're the stock leather ones [altho they look like sh*t] and I'm gonna leave em on behind the ones I make for extra padding - also so if I decide I don't like it it'll be easier to start again. As far the harness thing goes - playr will be here in a minute with his marked up pic that he shows everytime someone asks about this. But yeah - you can cause serious spinal injuries if you don't mount them right. Personally I think they are a PITA both to mount and to use everyday and look really ricey unless it's your dedicated drag car or something. Def not worth being paralyzed or some sh*t. i see...
I've used em for a few cars now... oh well, welll see when plyr gets here... Are the door cards held on by those crazy, "Folder brad" looking things? i wanna know for the purpose of doing something with em... I'm not going to destroy mine, so when i get a chance to glass a copy; And if i keep the copys over the originals, than you can have my originals. but that'd prob be the best way to have something sound efficient... -------------------- QUOTE (presure2 @ Nov 6, 2010 - 6:16 AM) Via FB: fcuking awsome!!! For clarity I'm talking about the little fabric [fake leather on leather cars] peice on the door that goes where your arm rests. that's probably the wrong name for them but you get the idea. So IDKWTF your talking about when you say "to have something sound efficient". it's just for looks. And no they are just glued on with some really weak a$$ glue. I'm surprised yours haven't started falling yet since you're a smoker and you know how poorly the doors were design for keeping water out - rain and washer fluid comes right in directed at that or the window controls depending on speed. Don't get me wrong - I wouldn't change a thing about the way the doors and sill are shaped but it does seem to funnel the water into the worst possible places.

It sounded good to me... No i'm talking about putting speakers in em... maby shouldnt... i just need speakers... I'm still deciding on keeping the back seat or not; it works for your kids, they're little; in the Convert, we have less leg room, plus the fron seats are maximum to the back; witch leaves about 1.5-2 inches from the seats. When you drove my car the other day, you leaned the seat back, it was resting on the back seat. How can anyone fit back there? I was thinking if i set up those corners for 12's then i'd need another set of speakers to equalize the sound better... but then again, i dont keep the bass turned to the lowest freq. i'd prob be fine... IDK, i just wanna do something different... -------------------- QUOTE (presure2 @ Nov 6, 2010 - 6:16 AM) Via FB: fcuking awsome!!! D-man FTW! Damn D-Man - most impressive. Screw that - it be really difficult to make it look good and how would you even roll the windows down if you mounted speakers there without them sticking way out and looking funny? Maybe I just can't picture what you're talking about.
IMO - Get the vert doors [I now yours is a vert but as I was telling you before - the verts I've seen in the junkyards have an 8 speaker system with an extra 4.5" between the stock 8" in the bottom and the stock tweet in the mirror covers. Replace the stock 8" with a midbase 8", get really expensive and clear sounding [Boston Acoustic?] 4.5" components with tweets, after market 6.5"s in the back, amp the whole mess and call it a day. I could wire you up some really nice harnesses to power all that from the rear mounted amp.
