As some of you know, my car is about to get boosted. I just wanted to know what pager alarms you guys use? What do you think of the ebay specials?

Cheers.

guess you are right. I have had a few Ai606's as well as one G5 Clifford (which was useless).

I did like this http://cgi.ebay.com/COMPUSTAR-2W900FM-AS-W...1QQcmdZViewItem

but guess you are right. Most likely Toad again with a turbo timer separate.

I got the same alarm for 150 shipped although I had a pro security shop install it so that added another 200 w/o auto start for my stick celica total $350. The reason why I advise not to get the one with 1 mile range is that it'll eat up a lot of AAA batteries plus if your ever 1 mile away from your car it'll be gone by the time you get their anyways....and stay away from those ebay alarms I heard they come with Chinese instructions. Oh and one more thing your alarm is only as good and effective as the person who installed it so I guess it doesn't really matter what alarm you get it just depends on the install. tongue.gif

Well i went with an APS596 and it has served me well. It has a ton of features and extras(glass break sensor, tilt sensor, back up battery with special keys, hood and trunk sensors) and thousand different ways to program it. I am sure alot of those features are avilable with most higher end alarms, and the pager signal strength is pretty good, like 1,000plus feet...

Hope that helped

I want to wire up a pre-paid cell phone to the alarm so when the alarm is going off it activates the pre-paid phone to CALL my phone, that would be trick smile.gif

Who is doing your install?

i have this CompuStar Pro model 2W9000FM-AS and its great.

imo, the one, if not, the best 2way pager alarm starter out there... seriously, the range is awesome, as are the features. range is probably the number 1 thing you should look for in an 2way pager. and if anything, the canadian version has more features than the american one.

so many unique features that sets this apart from the rest like interior temperature and voltage meter display right on the remote, auto disarm/arm when you're a certain distance away (this can be switched off of course), entirely programmable from remote (instead of module... not going back to clifford anymore!), and best of all, manual transmission compatible..

from my experience, it has 5x-10x the range of a clifford matrix rsx.. which is pretty insane

lol that makes 2 ppl with the 2WFM9000-AS
Features on this alarm are amazing, and I had my mechanic friend do the install, he had no wire diagram so had to figure everything out himself, he spend almost half day on my car alone doing the install.
Also, this is Compustar's highest model of alarm and most recent one, and i believe it got the 2007 award for best alarm or somethin like that.

i wouldn't cheap out on an alarm.. if you want to go with a 2way, get one with good range.. cuz what would be the point in parking at.. say a mall for example, and don't even have range to know the status of your car..

also, 120 feet remote range is crap.. imo. but if you're mainly concerned about theft or vandalism in your neighbourhood, then i guess it ok.

To azian_advanced,
yes having the far range is a benefit however, whether you're in a mall or a hospital, you won't get reception anyway. Numerous times when i go into buildings, I won't get reception unless there's a window nearby.
I had a friend who got his car jacked into and tore his entire interior apart when he went to the hospital to visit and came back out with his car all in pieces.
*edit* but the good thing about having a 2-way alarm is that I heard if you call in to your insurance and report to them you have this alarm, it apparently will reduce it down a bit. Also the same when u have a removeable wheel and fire extinguisher in your car. I've yet to call my insurance..

Also, this alarm is great and all, but the wiring on it is just insane and way too complex. I advise you to get a professional to do the install. I'm not sure if its possible to find a wire diagram from a member on thsi site, but my mechanic friend had to figure out all the wires himself, he spent nearly half a day on my car alone doing the install--atleast he did a great job.
However, i'm not sure if azian_advanced has this problem but when i got my alarm installed, my mechanic friend told me that the wiring system only runs through one primary circuit or route or w/e its called therefore, when your car is being obstructed, it'll only show as your window is being obstructed and not your door/wheel/etc. wherever your alarm can view which part of your car is being hit. It's not too much of a biggy anyway, also if u have trouble with ur auto-start, pm me because there's this thing called "auto-mode" (if u purchase the canadian version w/ the 1000ft range) that will intercept with the auto-start feature, and i'm not sure if the solution was shown in the manual but I had to get a friend who had the same alarm show me how.

true.. the only parts that show what is being obstructed are the doors (since they all share the same circuitry which in this case includes the rear hatch) and the hood (provided the hood pin is installed). installation and customer manuals can be found online but the installation manual isn't too user-friendly, especially for the novice installer.
additional sensors can be added, the only sensor included is a dual stage shock sensor.. there are additional ones like microwave or proximity sensor, tilt sensor, glass sensor, 2nd shock sensor, etc.

i'd highly recommend a professional installer to put this in if you're not familiar with wiring.. it's almost a 'must' to also have your power door locks set up as well. makes life more convenient that way.

ps. try to get the later PRO model CompuStar Pro model 2W9000FM-AS if you can

They're very hard to find nowadays--I'll assume it's the demand for them.
I purchased mine on ebay from a guy who actually worked with Compustar and got them for cheap and started selling them off, so I got lucky there.
The ebay member who sold them is: 0km0
I just checked and he still doesn't have any for sale again. Too bad. And yes, I checked everywhere and they don't have this model for sale. Best Buy has the model right underneath the 2WFM9000-AS model.
I guess the model is still too new and hasn't come out into stores yet??? Think it only came out in 07.

I paid 300 shipped.
Usually, when he puts them up for sale, he only has 5 available so keep checking. However recently, he hasn't any.
