I'm going to be taking the 2 tests for A+ certification (Essentials/IT Tech) within a few months and I'm curious to know a bit about the exams and what not. If anybody has taken them I'd love to hear from you.

ive been researching them as well and from what ive been hearing its a hard enough test but it doesnt really teach you anything. the courses and what not r not that helpfull from what ive read, what most people sudjest doing is start at home fixing yours friends family and what not then moving to a small shop and go in say hey ill come work for u for the base minimum price get alot of good exp and help then take the tests and go from there. if you have allready done this kinda work then i dont think u should have any problem with the tests from my understanding, and i wish u the best of luck

^ good practice tests.

Easy Test is right, just relax, study up good and take it. there are tons of books and online resources that in a few days (depending what you already know) should have you ready for it.

How much does the test cost to take and where is it normally given?
I would want to take it just for fun.

http://certification.comptia.org/resources/registration.aspx

A+ $163.00

if you look on that page it lets you put in your country and state and it shows you testing locations. there are quite a few near me, most at collages.

If you want to take one for fun, go Here. It is the A+ Essentials practice test.

I downloaded that simulation exams one, it's only 30 questions though. I found full tests at the link above.

I took the Essentials and didn't pass, but I wanted to see where I stood before I went on and started studying and stuff and I think I'll be fine when I do take it. Thing is with that practice I took, it's a little outdated. Lots of questions on older OS's and some older technology so I'd like to get my hands on some 2006 questions. I have yet to do a practice for the IT Tech test though.

I took the testes and scored pretty well. It's not very hard at all. but the testing center i took it at (i don't know if they are all like this) mix up the questions a lot, so sometimes you get a really easy test, and others a hard one.
