So, I replaced my radiator in my 94 GT for the second time last September
And yesterday I noticed two cracks. One by the cap and one by the top
hose. I threw some JB Weld on the cracks for a temporary fix 'cuz I'm broke
right now. I've pretty much had it with these type of radiators.

Can anyone suggest a decent but relatively cheap aftermarket radiator?
Do they make metal radiators for our cars? I've had nothing but problems.
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Do you know why the rads keep cracking? Kinda odd how you have gone through 3 rads.

Well, the first needed replacing when I bought the car. The most recent one
was bought "used" but in really good condition. It could have been abused
prior to buying it. I'm honestly just looking for a tougher radiator. My temp
is consistent and fine. Really doesn't make any sense.

I need a stainless steel rad. for my ride. Haha.
It's weird 'cuz my temp is normal. Shouldn't be going through them.

You can't expect used parts to last as long as new.
This is one reason I buy very few parts used.

Just to broaden your options, Toyota sells radiators for cheaper than they used to.
I don't know if the quality has gone down as a result of the cheaper price or not, and I'm not sure if it's every radiator they sell, or only newer manufactured ones.

Also, the OEM radiators aren't necessarily the best quality you can get, there are better alternatives.

I just wanted to throw that out there.

Yeah, I checked Toyota. Cheaper..but still up there. Do they make steel/metal radiators?
Is there reason I'm going through radiators other than temp?

Thanks for the input.

I'm using the Prestone pre-mixed 50/50 stuff right now.

Newer radiators [90? ^] are plastic tanked with a aluminum core.
You should be able to find metal tanked ones, even in OEM style.

Have any of the ones that broke been brand new, or have they all been used?

And just to check, do you have the rubber supports in place top and bottom, in good condition? That could contribute to the cracking, since the plastic tanks are what would take the stress of uncushioned contact.

CSF makes some nice radiators. they may make an all metal one that fits the 6G. the one i got for my friends 91 turbo capri was all soldered metal. brass end tanks with brass nozzles, brass tubes, with copper fins. VERY high quality radiator.
