I'm sure this question has been asked before but with the rising gas prices I am getting a little curious. How many miles does the celica get city/hwy? The only mod I have is a short ram intake. Gas is already at 3.34 for unleaded. It's depressing.....

I just paid $3.91 a gallon for 93. I have CAI, header, and a cat back. I have a heavy foot and I get about 20mpg city. If I tone it done and drive like a normal person i think i could hit like 23-24 on city.

Edit: i filled up with 91 not 93 lol don't know what i was thinking....

Wow, seeing a couple of you filling with 93 octane--i only fill with 91 octane.
I remember reading somewhere and someone saying somethin about our cars prefer Premium gas for "best performance"....i'm not sure how high the octane is over in the US for premium gas, but over here, our premium gas is 89, and our super or w/e is 91.
We don't have a 93 octane, our highest is 94 and that's only available at Sunoco.

I use regular unleaded (87, right?) at 3.35/gal (for today at least!) and am averaging 28 to 30 mpg in stop-and-go interstate rush hour traffic (pretty much like city traffic), only mod is SRI - and even that's just a cone filter on the stock air hose. Adding Injen SRI today if I can find a screwdriver at work and the weather holds out smile.gif Hoping to see a slight increase in mpg.

i prefer to poor booze into my gas tank... That way me and my car can both be too drunk to drive, and nobody gets hurt... but then we are both slugish on the way to work the next day frown.gif

JK!! Really; i'm payin arround 3.5 for a gal of medium grade (Houston-Katy) And it only takes about $40-43 (low fuel light on/off) to fill er up... And it'll last all damn week (weekdays), and i drive one city to another day in-day out to work and home..

You people must drive like psychotic people to get such poor gas mileage... Or you need to tune your schett up, BADLY!! lol. I though i drove pretty... "Zainy" but damn... I think some of you have a leak...

I'm curious as to how many miles you are driving in that week? highway or city driving? My auto GT vert is getting between 20-22mpg in the city and I drive like a grandpa (most of the time) lol

Wholey schett!! 4.10 for cheap?! GD, where do you live?!?!?!?!?!?!

as for me, i'm prob averaging somthing like 25 MPG... i drive ALOT of stop and go in the morning and steady 5-10 MPH evening...

I'll set up my mileage tommorow...

To: http://maps.google.com/maps?f=d&hl=en&...e=UTF8&z=11

from: http://maps.google.com/maps?f=d&hl=en&...e=UTF8&z=11

About 17 miles each way, plus plenty of redlights, and ect.

17* 2 = 34 day... *5 = 170 week.. then wal*mart, family (my gal is spanish rolleyes.gif ) ect... Adds up quickly to probably like.... 300/wk?

Remember, EVERYONE underestimates my over crowded city. Ask ANY Houston member...

You people running anything other than 87 that aren't turboed or have high compression engines are wasting your money. Higher octance prevents knock. It doesnt clean your engine any better than 87. Any increases in performance are purely psychological.

Its $11 a gallon here in the UK right now for VPower (100Ron? or 99 cant remember) get 17mpg taking it real easy.
It sucks to run a thirsty car in the UK.

I run ~30-ish mpg. 100 miles a day jus for work(on I-40 at the worst times of day, which means some nice highway spots, but mainly stop n go...... makes a 30min drive without traffic an hr & 15min on the light traffic days) So, highway & "city" combined + road rage(I end up revin and "gunning" the heck out of my car), sounds like some people here need some tune ups..... I get about 500mi between fillups(needle almost at empty and gas light just starting to stay on constant)

Keep going north, he's up in Washington. California-Oregon-Washington. wink.gif

I have a tiny update to my mileage. I filled up today and did the math, with my semi-ghetto SRI (cone filter on stock hose) I got 32.9 mpg. SWEET!!!

So yesterday I put in the NOT-ghetto SRI that is shiny and has pretty letters on it that spell Injen (yay I'm so excited! biggrin.gif ) so I'll be curious to see if there's any change at all in mileage. On this tank I'm running 89 Octane, but only because once a week the gas station near me sells it for the same as 87 because they want to get rid of it before the truck comes to refill the tanks.

PS It sounds like you REALLY need a tune up or something. Your mileage should be better than that.

a quick and inexpensive way to start saving up for those maintenance costs is to change your spark plugs, wires and clean out your air filter. Your mileage should increase pretty well. Even if you don't drop a bunch of money on "the expensive stuff." You can easily get away with NGK copper plugs (like $2/pc or less). Wires cost what they cost, go to Amazon to order the NGK wires, they'll run you $40 which is less than the cheap-o wires from Schuck's! (and $23 less than they charge for the NGKs) If the $50 hasn't killed you, spend another 20 or so on a new distributor cap and rotor. Lastly, if you're due for an oil change, GET ONE! Look online for coupons if you need to... I know around here, Jiffy Lube always has some goober waving a sign around for a twenty dollar oil change for the next car to pull in.

I promise promise promise your car will feel like a new car (comparatively speaking, of course!) and your mileage will increase noticably. You guys pay WAY more for gas up there then we do down here in Portland, make it count at least!
