my A/C would need re-piping and that sounds like a lot of time and money to me. i had it checked and re-charged the first summer, it leaked dry. i had it checked and repaired the following summer (500$), it leaked dry. i didn't run it last summer because i'm tired of poisoning the planet's atmo, wasting $.$$ and dragging around a lot of unnecessary weight. the question now is: is it worth paying to have the whole thing ripped out? has anyone tried to do this on their own? how hard is it? any thoughts on the subject will be appreciated.
peace. -------------------- |

I think you should take it to whomever you paid 500 bones to to fix it and have them do it right at their expense!

just cut the belt off.
its fast and reversable. So if you ever sell your car, the buyer would not have to locate parts. the compressor and lines will only save you around 60 pounds. to pay someone to remove it is just not worth it. |

either remove it yourself and get a new non-AC belt, or get new lines and put them in yourself.

If I were you I would leave the AC in. You don't even need another belt. Just don't run it.
Down the road if you can afford to pay someone [or learn to do it yourself] you can fix it, and when it comes time to sell your car, it's worth more with it in. Even if you don't plan on selling it now, things change. -------------------- |
