I was thinking about the handful of cars with circular headlights, and that some of them have multiple projectors in black or chrome avail, some even have halos....such as the '95-'99 Dodge/Plymouth Neon (DEPO recently came out with some excellent projectors that are far superior to the APC ones)...there's also the Subaru WRX, which have the rally style projectors avail. as well, then there is also the Integra which have Projectors as stock equipment....but the two lights on those are molded together as one piece...)

what I was wondering is how close (shape wise) would a set of the Neon DEPO or WRX Projector Rally style headlights to the Celica low beams? I bet they would fit with a little modification, a little cutting here and there, maybe a little filler...they look decent in my head, LOL, but can anyone do a photochop?? The Neon lights in my opinion look more similar in shape, I bet they'd be a mild installation, here are some pics:

Neon DEPO Projectors: (they'd just have to be angled a little to fit with the Celica headlight shape)

Subaru WRX: (1st one is JDM Projector/Rally style, 2nd is Stock Replacement)

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/02-03-04-IM...076431296QQrdZ1

What do you guys think? These can be had for less money than JDM Celica Projectors, and they'd also be totally custom, in reality since it would really be a headlight conversion....

I was even wondering how a set of Mazda RX-8 taillights (maybe headlights too but not too sure...) would look, I'm thinking they would look a little small but modern at the same time, I don't really like the stock taillights, I want something with LEDs or something, LOL....

If you don't like the idea atleast be respectful and don't bash it, I think they could actually look decent...

If anything the Neon ones would be the closest in shape but I think they are smaller all the way aound. If that is so you might be able to fit the reflector inside the celica housing but you still need clear lenses. I am working on my own set of projector headlights but the lenses is what has me stopped.

get 4 neon projecters...fit the outside ones to the fenders then if you have a fiberglass front end add some fiberglass so that it will fill in the gap. then for the inside align them where you want em and add glass.....of course if you get neon lights then you won't need 4 headlights, correct......

I too have often thought about this, everytime i look at a neon i think how similar our lights are, and wonder if its possible. I dont think it would look too bad if properly done. Ricey is a little extreme considering it looks extremely similar to Celica projectors. I would try it out if you have an extra bumper and some cash.

I'm referring to the fitment/size/shape. If you look at any headlight conversion on our celica, they all look bad -- fitment of the wrong product is not going to look natural, even with tons of molding. -- but I guess give it a shot if you want to spend your time and money that way. Imo, money and time can be better spent then trying to jury-rig the wrong shaped headlights.

Okay, I’ll agree with you about the sound's conversion...but that said - - - sound's conversion is costing a lot more than any of these idea's here, and more than JDM's alone. So, for me, it would be in another category than neon pros rig one weekend to "fit".

other than JDM projectors, the only headlight conversion I would ever attempt is the headlights from a 96-98 Ford Taurus. The are 95% the same size and shape, they would just need to be angled a bit more. Pics

something like that would be BADASS IMO, and you can pick up a decent used set for about $100. We just need someone to be a volenteer and try this out. Dan...? wink.gif

well that is your opinion, not mine...I can get DEPOS for about $120 shipped, through a friend of mine, which is a hell of a lot cheaper than JDM projectors (for the Celica)

I don't think it would be ricer, I mean putting tons of decals on a car and a stupid looking aluminum wing and a coffee can muffler, that's ricer...I don't like the idea of taurus headlights because I want projectors, but I want something different..plus the Neon lights are closer in shape, the Taurus lights are more round....

I'll take a couple pics of my cars right next to each other to show you how similar they are, but they will look slightly different in size because I don't have any headlight Gaskets on my Celica, but other than that they doo look pretty darn close IMO..

I also happen to have a '98 Neon and I put both cars side by side, the size & shape are very very close...eyeballing it revealed that with a little mod I have a feeling that they'd fit pretty decent. If they really don't then guess what..I'll just put the DEPO Projectors on my Neon...and I wouldn't have wasted any of my money, LOL. The DEPO projectors for the Neon come in chrome and also black housing.....so I might get black and do a custom job on the high beams...

I think I'd just feel bad and it just seems a little weird to have neon lights on a toyota... but different is where it's at! I'd like to see the finished product!

beetle projectors? ok if you look at a Celica headlight, the lowbeams are slightly egg shaped, like a Neon...the beetle has circular headlights that are not egg shaped...

anyway I have a friend here in jackson that I am going to talk to, to see if he'll let me see if I can fit Neon Depo headlights (since he has them and barely drives his Neon) onto my Celica and I'll take some pics of what they look like....

Try it for the heck of it, but chances are they will look like cr@p. You're trying to fit a different type/shape of headlight than the celica has. End of story. Good luck. Post your findings please.

I say try it, I'd be willing to do it if its descent..

The way the bumper meets the lowbeams, you have a margin of error there to make them fit, and the rubber around too, you can modify it to make it looks like it belongs there.
