well after the 1st devoted day of work, all is well with my car.

i ran into some major problems with my turbo, while i was working under the car to take off the bumper my friend was putting the turbo together.

after he put the turbo on the manifold he started to bolt the wastegate on. one of the studs got stripped. no big deal, went out and got a whole set of studs for the turbo just incase anything else happened.

well, we were replacing that stud when the wrench slipped and hit one of the other studs, slicing my hand and breaking the stud off. it was a bitch and a half getting the piece of that stud out. i had to drill it out and retap the hole. it took a long time but i got it done and luckily i had plenty of extra studs.

then i mounted the intercooler i will be using until xmas time and intsalled my vortech FMU.

all that is left now is the car needs a downpipe and i need to install my turbo timer, and the oil lines for the turbo but thats it!!!!

took the car to the shop and parked it there for the night so that it will be nice and cold when they take the manifold off and put the turbo on to make a DP.

the DP will cost me $80 2.5" piping back to my cat with a flex pipe. it should go well with my DR Catback when i put it on tomorrow.

the car should be turboed by saturday afternoon, and the rest of my weekend will involve tunning and track time next friday. gonna get a dyno appointment too.

well, i gotta go to sleep now, been working on my car since 1pm and finished at 9pm. several times i had to go out and buy stupid little things

but like i said, it ended up being a good day.

well, im kinda tired, but lemme list the things i remember.

Turbo T3 size--6 hours in a junk yard, went through several cars, found my turbo in almost new condition with new remanufactured plates all over it-$90

SAFC2-$300 shipped
vortech FMU-$90
JGS manifold kit $250
JGS oil feed kit-$45
custom oil return-$8
eclipse SMIC-acutally works as a side mount in the Celica!!! not the best but better than nothing and total sleeper style-$100 shipped
AFR gauge-$25
Boost gauge-$15
Dad's aircraft EGT for tuning-$0
dual gauge pod-$30
50ft of air line $3
3ft rubber fuel line-$4
some LOUD ebay BOV $50
2" metal piping for SMIC -$30
Couplings for SMIC piping-$15
DP-$80
flange for DP-$6
check valves-$15
DR catback--$250
Full tank of 91 octane-$32
injector cleaner-$7

TOTAL---$1445

i'll check tomorrow if i have left anything out but im pretty sure that is most of it(it has been almost a year since i got the first parts).

in the next few months i will get a 255lph fuel pump, FMIC, injectors(a friend of mine has a full turbo setup from a mx6 turbo with injectors sitting in my garage, im tempted to take them, lol) and make some sort of intercooler cooler for fun using co2 bottles from paintball guns.

but THE very next thing is wheels and tires(have you seen my hubcaps?). as it is now i can break the tires loose for a sec or two, but at 5-7psi, well, you know.

wow, a full tank, of 91 octane cost you $32

I guess I just dont realize how good I've got it in missouri

a full tank of 93 has never cost me more than 25

good luck on the rest of your project

Jon

man that would have been great to get the cermaic turbo off of a GNX.

i got the turbo from a 2.5liter(i think) volvo, it was the best on the lot so i took it

here is an update.

went to the shop this morning and the guy who was going to make my DP had several other cars to work on and they had just used up the last of their 2.5" mandrel bent u pipes frown.gif i will have the DP made on tues frown.gif frown.gif frown.gif

so i brought my car home and just for the hell of it tried to make my own dp but that was a big waste of time.

so i just hooked everything up. its all ready to go just needs the DP.

monday i will have the car towed to the shop and leave it there so they can start working on it the next day.

on a brighter note, i saw a crappy looking toyota tercel with an unpainted hood scoop and hood pins.

i get around to the front of the car and what do i see? a top mount intercooler. turns out the guy had recently done a 4agze swap. they were installing a front mount on the car.

also, the guy who was supposed to make my DP has an 11 sec crx. b16 swap, turbo, all the goodies. its is 100% sleeper except for the slicks he had on there, his BOV had a filter on it to keep it quite too.

this day was kinda disapointing but oh well, things like this happen. im just glad my car is not down due to a major problem, instead of just one missing part.
