ST204 (USDM) tail lights have an extra bulb, what did you do with yours? Options

when i replaced my original tails with the ST202s yesterday i was puzzled to see that the USDM have an extra bulb holder for a 194 that acts as a rear side marker lamp. the JDMs do not have a receptacle for that lamp. did you cut and tape yours off or did you just take out the bulb? while on the subject...is there cause for concern if there is no rear side marker now? i had a quick glimps of the rear of the car in a storefront reflection this morning and i guess i could see the outside tail/brake light. i guess they just do things differently over there in the Orient.

Yes, seems different, most of JDM car have 194 at the front for headlight instead...
But our sun here are also rising from the east...

There is a boss that is just not drilled out on the JDM tails that you can drill out and install the sidemarker lights. It should only take about 10mins each to do. Pull them back out and look on the sidemarker rear housing - you'll see.

Could that be one of the UK rear foglight thing the celi's in the UK have?

i saw those and had the same idea. i thought it would be too difficult to drill it out so i could get a good fit. the slots for the tabs would have to be carved out, no? besides, they would show up white and i don't know about the legality of showing a white light on the rear on a vehicle while in forward motion. i may do it later, but i can't bring myself to drill and hack away at my new tail lights. they so pretty!!!!! thanks for the suggestion though.

no, not for an H3 foglight bulb or a 1157/1156 turn/stop bulb, only a 194 side marker bulb.

No - actually you don't have to if you screw the bulb in carefully - a dremil would make short work of that task tho - do it right. I think you're right about the legality tho.

correct. I think negative was the first to do this way back IIRC.
US and CA cars require a rear side marker. The non JDM taillight has it and the JDMs do not.

nope. The rear fog is completely different.

Yeah but that's completely unnecessary tho. Good on you that your GB was actually complete which gives the buyers the option but I like my car to be as lit up from the side at night as possible - that's why I don't shave the sidemarkers like some have done.

i guess i'll just pull the bulb and tie it off for now. if they fail my next MVI, i'll think of something... i know! i'll just convert the turn signal to an 1157 receptacle and run the leads from the "extra" bulb. that kind of defeats the purpose of getting 202 tails though .
