I'm new to this Celica Forum. I bought a 94 Celica GT for my daughter to drive when she gets her license in July. In the meantime I've been driving it because of the gas mileage and the thing has grown on me. I can see where you guys and gals get your enthusiasm for Celicas. I paid $1700 for it and it's in pretty good shape but needs some minor work. Engine and drivetrain have 165,000 on it but it runs smooth, everything else is mostly cosmetic. I have found sun visors on this forum and am looking for various other small parts. I'm amazed at how friendly and cooperative the posters are with questions and help! Here's my question, there is a toggle switch right above the air vent to the left of the steering wheel. It has a cicle and a line on it. Can't tell what it does when I turn it on and off. I don't have fog lights. Any ideas? One other thing, how do I insert a picture on these posts? When I click on insert image it says you must enter a URL. Not sure what that means or how to do it.

goto Http://www.photobucket.com

Then make an account; and when you upload your pics there, it'll give you the code to post.

Remember this fourm is not HTML bassed, it's java. It does however follow the rules of basic HTML; but instead of < & > you use the [ & ] for code usage.

For example: to bold an item, you'd use the code "[ b ] Bold [ /b ]" (no spaces of corse) instead of <b>bold</b>.

Get it? biggrin.gif

The circle thing is probably your dimmer for interior lighting. Gauges, accesories, etc.

My fog light switch is on my left bar thingy for signals haha...

My dimmer for interior lights is lower and you turn it back and forth to dim the lights. This switch is above the air vent and it toggles on and off. It is round but does not turn. It has an o at the top and a - at the bottom of it. It is about the size of a nickel.

he's refereing to the location where the euro specs cars have the rear fog light switch, US spec cars don't have anything there in stock form, so that was installed for the previus owner, can be a after market fog light switch, you said you don't have fog lights but the wiring may still be there,

try to post pictures as it's always easier to assist when we see an image.
you don't need to know aobut java or HTML for that, just create an account on Photobucket.com and upload pictures there, they'll have host the images for you, and you just need to copy the link on the image pop-up window.

Welcome and good luck with your new celi

looks like somebody added, that one. def not stock. I used the same place to swicht my gauges.

you will have to follow to see waht it does. Maybe aftermarket fog lights. check under the hood ro the bumper to see id there are some holes or wires loose. they might have gotten removed before sale.

um... yeah, i have a light for my alarm in that location. IDK what the hell that is. It's not stock. (not based off of any of the 6gc's that i've seen) but thats only like 10-12. biggrin.gif

So, i agree with popping it out and tracing the wire. Or pushing the button to see what happened. You can pop the whole vent panel out (as not to break your switch) via flathead screw driver. It just pops in and out. No harm will be done.

...Unless you dip the flathead in napalm, set it on fire, and then try to pop it out kindasad.gif or tape explosives to it...

But aslong as your not crazy then its okay biggrin.gif

this is 100% after market well iam 99.9999 % sure but looks like it was installed very well that hole plastic trim were the toggle is located pop's off just use a platic trim panel tool so u dont hurt any thing or befor taking it that far (if your limber enough) look under the dash and seats look for anything that stands out like a neon light or anything pop the hood look for a red wire that runs the the battery b/c what ever it is it needs a postive and its getting it from one of two places 1) being the battery and 2) being the fuse pannel witch comes off very very easy its located right by the hood release and look for a jumped wire or spliced or anything thats not normal and start tracing it to what ever it goes to thats what i had to do lol turns out i had 2 different alarms in my car.....neither one was hooked up rite and both were installed very poor but ya this will take you maybe 2 hours if u have a bright small flash light and can tell after market wires from OEM wires good luck.

i have one similar to that too...

that's definitely not OEM. right now, the switch is for powering my heated seat element.
but maybe yours is for powering aftermarket fog lamps (if you have them) or whatever else is installed in your car.

Most likely a fog light. I installed same switch for my fog lights, except mine doesn't have the i or o written on it.
