If you have some good tires, and a good clutch--i usually take off at 2750rpm.

If you were ripping all through first, you must've taken off at like 3k rpm man. What I do to reduce that wheelspin is when i take off at ~2700rpm, after a good 0.5 second of the wheels spinning, *this is gonna be hard to explain* i step off the pedal and stomp back onto it (doing this consecutively really quick) until i can start to see the car moving much faster than 2cm then i step on the pedal about 80% until it catches traction and then BOOM 100% and then i should be about 6000rpm right about now and then i shift and i rip my 2nd gear for a good 0.25s....
You need a better clutch upgrade bro, and I strongly advise after you get your clutch upgrade to make sure your motor is in good shape to be pumped like this because many people can blow their motor because their clutch can handle the high RPM's but the motor is old don't forget. Anyway, i'm able to spin my wheels on 3rd and just a little tiny bit in 4th gear. (Don't forget I've a short-shift kit too.) I've beaten a sentra se-r, and an h22a swapped accord that was tuned with a NEO and other mods, and a couple of integra's. It's all on how you do it. Do a clutch upgrade and short-shift. Great mods, and while your tranny is out, ask to see if you can get your flywheel sanded down a couple of pounds. This post has been edited by _mikeE: Apr 7, 2008 - 12:39 AM |

you really have to see what works best for where you are and your car....
you should NOT be just dumping the clutch off the line as well...if you are you'll get into bogging/wheel hop &/or spin. you are going to want to slip the clutch just a weee bit. and I at anyone who says they can spin 4th gear let alone 3rd (unless you are itchy) SSK doesn't help you make any power either.... |

depends on everything, tyres, power, torque, track...
i used to drop my clutch from 5k in my gt4 when i used to drag, would go like a bat out of hell off the line but then my clutch went eventually. lol only done it twice since new clutch and grabs much more, can get the tyres to smoke. lol -------------------- 1994 ST-205 JDM GTFour... fmic conversion finshed, project GT500 is underway

no, not yet. once the turbo spools and i hit like 5k the tires just spin. so if i started in 2nd i bet id have traction for few seconds longer down low but once i hit 5k its pointless. i either have to rev it out and get the car up to speed to get into 3rd or have a crappy shift into 3rd and have the turbo spool up again.
its almost as good as vtec. -------------------- |

I haven't broken things recently but i have a feeling my 3rd gear syncro is gunna break soon. its been grinding latly I'm not familiar with transmissions really, so i guess its going to force me to be when it breaks. i'm hoping it lasts the summer. -------------------- |

Ever consider e153 tranny? Having the benefit of LSD. I think my 1,2, & 3rd gear synchros have gone bad on me now, need to change soon might consider rebuilding tranny..

the next tranny... Transmission in my car will be the awd one i have out back. hopefully. or another s54 until the awd one. Id love to have an e153 but it would just be wasted money i could put towards awd at this point.

john, you need the E153.
you know me, i was never FOR that swap. after driving supershannons swap, with the e153, i REALLLLLY liked the gearing SO much more than the s54. (for the 3s swap anyway) although then again...i know what you have in mind, so, i guess you dont NEED the e153..but you can get the non lsd version for ~300 or so in bone yards. -------------------- Former Team 5SFTE pro member ;)
