So, I took the car out on test drive to see how it would run and to get my exhaust done. I know I wasnt supposed to hit boost, so I tried to keep it down. Well after shifting is my bov suppose to go off? Even if I dont hit boost? So after this, hoping I didnt hit boost, because my boost gauge didnt even go into boost. So am I okay? Well any way my car started smoking so I checked under the car and I sprung a leak with the coolant lines. I'll have to redo the lines tomorrow, but Im just a little worried I messed it up.

yup.
my blowoff valve goes off well below the boost threshold., depends on how you roll in and out of the gas.

Okay, I was almost crapping on myself. Well, do you think the smoking might have been the coolant leak?

x2 on the bov thing... Your bov will go off all the time you shift. you might not have boost but you do have pressure in your manifold where your vacuum line comes off of. It regulates itself and releases the pressure built up when the throttle body butterfly closes.

yes the bov will still go off. the turbine is still spinning, in fact it spins at idle and as soon as you close the throttle body the turbine just having that spinning inertia will push "pressure" out.

Okay, its been a few days since the turbo install and now I'm a little concerned with some problems. I have scheduled some dyno time on Monday, but need some help on diagnosing some issues.

1. I keep getting white smoke out of my tail pipe. I'm a little concered with the head gasket now, but I don't get any of that milky stuff in my oil or have oil in my coolant lines.

2. I looked on the compressor side of the turbo and spotted a tad bit of oil. So I just whiped it up with my finger.

3. At idle, how come my oil pressure gauge is reading at 40psi? SHouldn't it be like 20? And after getting my exhaust done, I noticed that my idle would fluctuate and my oil pressure gauge would bounce up and down.

4. How come at idle I am at like 2K rpm. My boost/vacuum gauge is reading a little over 20 vac.

Any help would greatly be appreciated. btw, I am not tuned YET.

the high idle is becuase your not tuned yet. your running bigger injectors...so its rich. the oil pressure should be around 40ish at idle. as far as the oil in the turbo...it's your seals...depending on how much it burns from the tailpipe when you boost will determine how bad it really is. vac reading is normal...mine reads the same.

But wouldn't blue smoke mean that my turbo is bad? I'm getting white smoke.

when i wasnt boosting in my car, it was smoking alot. my problem was that my intercooler pipe wasnt connected to the turbo so it wouldnt boost...so what i did was connect it and took the spring out of the wastegate...also might be that you need an oil reducer.

I'm not sure. Lets just say at stop lights the car smokes really bad. And when I shift a huge puff of smoke comes out. I figured it was the fact that I routed the hose from my pcv to the intake manifold. So I routed into the intake from the turbo and capped off the intake manifold nipple. But still smokes.

I bought it off of mr2oc. Btw the guy never gave me my money back for the map sensor I paid for, but what ever. Its not like I can get my money back now. So the white smoke is my turbo seals? I always thought it would be a head gasket issue. Isn't the smoke suppose to be blue if its the seals?

If in fact my seals are really gone. Where can I get my turbo rebuilt and for how much normally? Not looking to upgrade anything, just want the factory specs.

I sent mine to majestic turbo and it cost about $300, and I had it back in less than 2 weeks.

So I came out to the car today and noticed that I had some residue on my muffler. Whipped my finger on it and it totally smelt like a mixture of gas and oil.
