Hello all you people im new member from finland and also new owner for 6th Celica 94 liftback 1.8 (red one)!

Now i have only 15" rims onboard for winter but my question is:

What rims (size and width) and tyres do you use in summer? and when u answer please tell also, have u got lowering springs or not.

I need find new rims for me smile.gif i think 17" is very common in celicas.

17"x7" Flik Artic Gloss Black Rims w/ Falken Ziex Ze 512 Tires, no lowing springs (some new pics on my profile soon...) I am happy with my sizing, maybe would have gone 18"x7.5" if I could do it again.

16x7 SSR Integral V2 with Dunlop SP Sport 3000A 205/50/16 is what I have. Will hopefully replace at some point with some 17x7.5s for better traction (and looks wink.gif )

I have 18x7.5 with 225/40/18. When driving straight they are fine, but the tires do rub, and i need to roll my fenders because the fenders cut into the side of my tires, only when im turning though and at full rotation of the wheel. But other than that the handling is great and i like the way they look. pics in profile.

EDIT- CAR IS NOW LOWER THAN IT APPEARS IN PICS LOL

7.5x16 Toora t670 with Michelin Pilot Exalto 2 205/50R16 87V. Big increase in traction with the wider rim and the best tyres i had so far. I am planning on installing the Tein S-Tech lowering springs soon.

Now I'm no rocket scientist but logic would tell me that no matter how wide your rim is...if you only have 205mm of rubber touching the road, you will get the same traction as a stock rim. The only reason you would need to put a wider rim on our car is if you are going with a 235 or wider tire.

Well i am a physicist and i am telling you that the wider rim streches the tyre a bit wider than a 6~7 inch rim.
However the comparison was to my old stock setup(195/65R14) wink.gif wink.gif

I am about to buy tires for my new rims. Need some pictures/feedback on 50 vs 55 profile with stock suspension. I am not thinking of lowering my VIgen yet. What would be best? 205/50/15 or 205/55/16?
this is urgent cuz I already bought the alloys.....

My 2 choices for tires are:
-Falken FK 205/50R16 87 W
-TOYO PROXES CF 1 205/50 R16

Cheers!

The 205/50R16 is as close to the stock diameter as it gets.(for a 16 inch wheel)

I did finally decide and bought FALKEN FK-450 205/50
They were a tad cheaper and had almost same reviews as TR1.

would 235s be too much? say on a 17 maybe an 18, with a drop, or would you just have to get a higher/lower offset

In my opinion and observation the following recommended tire sizes for wheel widths whether you get 40's or 45's thats your preference. Of course factors change on how you play with the first and second numbers. Typically with 18" wheels same rule applies except 35 series are too low profile and 45 series I would imagine are too big if there even is a tire.

7" - 215 e.g. 215/40/17 or 215/45/17
7.5" - 225 e.g. 225/40/17 or 225/45/17
8" - 235 e.g. 235/40/17 or 235/45/17
