Hi. I recently bought a 97 Celica.Problem is i got another month left before i get my drivers license, so i figured i might as well use the time to upgrade the celica a little. Im almost finished in sowing new seat covers, starting to look pretty good. Im also putting some dark red fabric on some of the interior, pics will come later.

But some of the main things i want to do is to convert my none-electrical windows to electrical, and installing a sentral lock with remote. I guess the lock wont be too difficult, i guess i can use a "sentral lock-kit" from a car accessories shop.
But the window, does anyone know hard it will be the convert that? would i need a genuine system from a celica?

you will pretty much source out a whole door.

and then take the guts out and then use your shell.

you are looking at motors, panel, swtiches, wiring. I know griff is interested in doing this too. This is by far the easiest. Other than that you need to source the parts individually.

thanks for replys guys!
I'll take the door apart maybe tomorrow to see how things look. I'll maybe let a 32 bit prosessor controll, among other things, the windows. i've got a brother who's a micro-electronic engineer and rocket scientist (actually:P), so he'll help programme some neat functions. i'll come back to that later:)

So the easiest thing would be to find a complete power lock and window-door from any 94-99 celica. and then its pretty much bolt on. Great!

I am not only interested in doing the conversion, I'm totally doing it. I'm literally right in the middle now of figuring out what relays I need, etc. Guts are coming from Cochise, switches from ETNRider, and DEATH and Cochise are looking into all the electrical stuff for me "right quick" so Cochise can get that package out to me!

When I do the conversion, believe you me, I'll take lots of pix and do a little write-up. I'm hoping it'll be easier than it looks. I have like NO aptitude for electrical stuff - I'm nervous. frown.gif

I never did one on a 6gen, but if it's like any of the other's I've done, It's more of a pain in the hassle than anything. Just get ready to slice yourself up pretty good. The hardest part is bolting the motors and track into place (IMO) after that it's Tetris all over again laugh.gif (now that damn Russian theme song is running thru my head.) frown.gif

I never liked tetris... kindasad.gif
