Hi guys, ive been on here a while and decided to post my project thread, im a member of UK forum primarily for jap cars so Ive jsut copied and pasted it over - What do you think?

Thought I'd start a project thread for the celica as I seem to have an endless amount of stuff that I want to do to her! Enjoy!!!

1. Dynamat the rear and sorted a few rattles in the rear quarter panels!
IPB Image

2. new alpine speakers for the rear.
IPB Image

3. New HKS air filter
IPB Image

4. Oil catch can.
IPB Image

5. Cleaned cams up, painted rocker and manifold. TRD oil filter, castrol magnatec oil, oil pressure gauge, water temp gauge and volt meter on A-pillar pod (I will get pics of these when I remember next)
IPB Image

6. Exhaust heat wrap. Getting the heatshield chrome painted soon!
IPB Image

7. Cleaned Intake manifold adn throttle body - they were full of carbon S**t!
IPB Image
IPB Image
IPB Image

8. Cleaned and painted distributer
IPB Image

9. New fan belt and power steering belt. lightweight pulleys are on the agenda. and need to loosen belts as they are squealing on full lock!
IPB Image

10. Custom CAI created and installed, a definate increase in throttle response and noise.

11. TRD thermostat installed, compare it to the original one. Also TRD radiator cap.
IPB Image

12.

And finally my GT4 rear strut bar, got it for a bargain off fleabay!
primed

Painted
IPB Image
Installed, with finishing touches of stickers

I then proceeded with the interior!!!!!

1: original ring
IPB Image
2: green condom thing on boring bulb.
IPB Image
3: 2x BLue 12v led's, 2x transistors, shrink wrap, and the bulb holder.
IPB Image
4: Soldered the bulbs and transistors in place.
IPB Image
5: created the loom.
IPB Image
6: Done!
IPB Image

Changed the bulbs behind the dash to white led's then changed them again to differnet led's that emit wide angles of white light!!!!
IPB Image
IPB Image
IPB Image

Changed the bulb around the cigarette lighter to a blue led, this was tricky becasue its so small and getting the right amount of light in without the lighter when switched on casuing a fire  that would be an expensive mistake for a small mod!
IPB Image

Next I wanted the change the bulb's behind my AC control unit to blue Led's.

1: This is the circuit board - I added three wide angle blue led's. Plus changed the orange screen heater buttons to red led's (Top). And made a mini circuit board to hang down for intense side on lighting. (Nicked from a fibre optic lamp). This was reeally hard and made a few mistake burnign holes in the board but its all working fine now!!!!!
IPB Image

2:And this is how it now looks at night - cool huh? I also changed the clock colour to blue by using a blue plastic filter screen and removing the original horibble brown piece.
IPB Image
IPB Image

Kirkosaurous Motor Mounts - Also new clutch and machined flywheel - Forgot to take pics though!!!!!
IPB Image
IPB Image

More Led's, this time in the door handles and in the door pockets. I wired them into the window lock button so they can be switched off just in case coppers don't like it!
IPB Image

Heatshields and custom radiator cooling plate back from Powder Coating! Fitted and sticker'd - looks so much better under there now!!!!
IPB Image

So ive been a busy bee recently. Yesterday, after the rain the weather was quite nice so I decided to wash, clay, detail and wax/polish all over in preparation for the new skirts.

IPB Image

I even Polished my exhaust - I'm having a midlife crisis, LOL!
IPB Image

Today I fitted GT4sideskirts, I think they might me TRD ones but not sure, they are definately not standard celica skirts as they reach higher up on the body of the car compared to stock skirts - They look very similar to the C-one ones without the indents!!! Anyway here are the photos for the job.

Skirts, in need of repair:
IPB Image

Sanded and wet rubbed, rubber compound rubbed and fine crack filled:
IPB Image

Had a few fibreglass patches to fix:
IPB Image

Primed:

Painted:
IPB Image

After much debate I decided to give the lacquering a shot, was quite chuffed with the reuslts:
IPB Image

Took about 2 hours to prep them, check alignment, drill holes etc but its finished at last and very ahppy with the reults. They need to be blended a little, and a small section needs to be stuck closer to the body but overall I am quite happy, sets the cars stance of quite nicely!!!

Cleaned over again and all finished, just cracked open an ice cold beer and basking in the sun marvelling my work B)

My next project is tyres and suspension (once it's got through the next MOT! biggrin.gif )

Thanks for looking

Great stuff. I'm picking up some strut bars soon and this makes me think about painting them. And painting anything else in the engine bay that will come off easily! laugh.gif

Oh BTW, those parts you wired with the LEDs are resistors, not transistors. But I'm sure you knew that tongue.gif

Thanks or the comments - Its a work in progress!

In regards to burning oil - There's no blue smoke coming form the exhaust and the engine works smoothly, also oil consumption is fine!

I believe that it was burning oil by the previosu owner but it has ben fixed since then, however I am keeping an eye on it!!! Should really do a compression test to see if any of the valves are worn!

But thanks anyways!

both heads are from the same year (97) and about the same mileage (180K)
the one on the left was burning oil, the one on the right wasn't.

But judging by color could that just mean the oil is a little dirty, right?

Here was my V6 out of the junk yard, and i know the oil was just a little dirty...

Some great work, engine bay looks amazing!

I'm worried about the heat wrap on the exhaust manifold.

Heat wrap + cast manifold = crack city kindasad.gif

But the one on the right has clearly been cleaned!!!!! My car doesn't produce blue smoke and it doesn't idle funny and i dont have to top with oil! So IMO its not burning oil! When i first got the car (A year ago) and did its first oil change in my posession the oil was really dirty, now its nice and clean, ill probably take the cams out at some point and have them properly cleaned!!!! Oh and my car is a 94 with 100,000 miles!!!!

Haven't managed to get the pulley set yet! Got set back with a clutch and flywheel re-machine!!!

Splitters are on the agenda - or a possible full front kit!! Not sure yet!!!

Thanks for the comments!!!

Thanks for all the nice comments guys, really appreciate it! Good to know the efforts, blood and sweat is appreciated! LOL!
