How old are your plugs, wires, cap and rotor?
Doesnt the 3rd gen use a 3bar map (or is it a 2.5bar?)?

Yeah, the vid sounded like ignition problems... And the 3rd gen motor uses a 2.5ish bar MAP sensor.

If the motor runs fine most of the time, the MAP sensor is probably correct.

Just in case, you should check the P/N of the MAP sensor on MR2OC to see if it is a 2nd or 3rd gen sensor.

Its sounds like an ignition problem. What brand of cap, wires and rotor are you running? What do your spark plugs look like?

Like the guys say, sounds like an ignition fault to me. Had this on my GT4 with a set of Blitz spark plugs that only lasted 3,000 miles. Would boost and pull real hard until 5k, then a stumble and cleared at high rpm.
Replaced them with some NGKs and alls been fine for 20,000 miles (got a new set here to go in this weekend)

ok well i have been running ngk cold plugs with the car every since i got it running. the old ones looked  somewhat used. just put new ones in and tried it out still boggs. im thinking i might just go and get another new set of rotor and cap for the car or go and get a refund for the ones i replace when i got the motor. i think i got 93 alltrac ones. let me try this stuff all over again and see what happens. like lagos said do it halfassed once. do it right the second. haha ooh yeah toyota crazy im running some wierd brand dont even want to say its name but its been working for the mr2 guys up here so im tryin it out ( for cap and rotor, and wires)

Huh? Why would you take apart your intake manifold?

Did you try replacing your cap/rotor/wires with oem parts?
Did you verify that you bought the correct map sensor?

ooh meaning by intake manifold is just checking the injectors and plugs and o rings. i also went to toyota and got all oem parts cap/rotor/wires. the map sensor is from a 2nd gen mr2. but i got it cover i called up the place i got the motor from and im having them get a 3rd gen map sensor for me. its really just bugs me but i hardly push my car to the max anyways so it will just sit untill i get everything fixed correctly..

Thats your problem then. A 2nd gen sensor cant properly see the amount of air/boost going into your motor and because of that, the ecu cant apply the correct fuel/timing that it should.

the 94 map sensor is not for the genIII. make sure you have a purple sticker on your map sensor.

Not quite. A USDM MR2 94/95 MAP sensor is a gen2 (ie, incorrect). A '94+ JDM or other market 3s-gte MAP sensor should work.
