All of those were taken with the 17-40 f4L.

Moon looks nice, that's at 400 I'm assuming? It'd be interesting to see if you took the extender and didn't go 400 on the lens - because you can tell it does get a bit soft.

This is a stitch of 3 photos - and the original looks a lot better, but this is resized...

i was thinking of getting a 16-35 to replace my kit. im going with the 10-22 first tho. i get a nice wide angle with basically the same detail and quality of the 16-35. i do like the L glass construction tho. internal zoom blew my mind when i first used it.

If I had cash for the 16-35 I'd get it, but it's just too expensive. When you get below f3 the price starts to skyrocket. So I opted for the 17-40, which is an f4. Not as fast, but it's still a nice lens.

Oh no - when you say "fast" just means it has a high aperture. The higher the aperture, the faster the shutter speed you can use.

But it focuses decently fast, and quiet, granted it is USM.

I got the 5D, it's quite a bit heavier than the XTI, and considerably more "solid".

So the XTI is just sitting now - if anybody wants it. 385 + ship. It's body only, 3 batteries, charger, software, strap. No memory card right now - I need it still.

for some reason i dont enjoy heavy bodies. i played around with my friends mkII and is was so much heavier than the xti. what where your reasons for getting the 5d instead of a mkI or II? they arent too much more expensive

I'm assuming you mean the 1D. There were 2 big factors. 1) The 1D isn't full frame, it's 1.3, and 2) the 1D is considerably heavier (55oz vs. 32oz on the 5D). I didn't wan't something below 10mp, I don't shoot sports, or wildlife much which the 1D is good for (32fps). I felt that the 5D was a better fit for what I wanted to have.

i forgot that it is heavier b/c of the vert grip. i see what u did there though. your right it comes down to what you are going to use it for. are you going to use if for video as well. i wasnt too stoked when i heard them threw that in there.
oh wait before i should say that i should have asked if you got the MKI or II

might as well add some photo's

I have the MK1 - I couldn't afford the MKII, and I wanted it, but with xmas shopping and stuff - I couldn't do it. I maybe would use the vid, but probably not much.

When you said the 1D was not too much more I thought it was weird but maybe not too much more for you isn't for me.
