So the other day I went to pop my hatch and the trunk wouldn't open. I pull the trunk release and it's like it's already release but the trunk doesn't open and it doesn't release.. I tried the key in the back and same story.. I don't have a clue on how to get my trunk open or how to get this fixed.. Any ideas would be much appreciated...

I can pull the release and I can hear the cord moving all the way to the back but it just won't release..

did you try opening the trunk with the key? Hold the key all the way and pull open the trunk. This happens on my celica.

I've tried the key I've tried everything I can think of. . The key doesn't do anything. It will turn and the cord will move but its like it won't actually release. Idk if its jammed or what. Its not that it doesn't pop up, it doesn't ever let loose. It doesn't release the part that holds it. There is no resistance when I turn the key or pull the release. It's like it's just slipping or not even grasping to release whatever holds it down.

you have to go inside of the car and pull down the back seats - crawl to the trunk and release the cable/latch manually -- the mechanism popped out of place -- you might have to remove the plastic covering of the back to do this - this happened to me a few times and thats what i had to do -

ok, how do I release it manually?? I can't figure it out. I tried messing with it with a flat head but was very unefective that way.. and I'm not sure how to remove the plastic when its stuck shut.. not a whole lot of room to move that stuff around..

sounds like the cable came unattached as mentioned....removal of rear plastic may be in order...remove all the plugs holding it and lift up...
