I have a 93 3sgte (from an sw20) and therefore my ign wires have the clips (as opposed to the plunger style). I orered a tune up set from ats for 93 mr2 and the coil wire I got its a few inches too short compared to the one that is coming off the car. Is there a difference between the coil wire for a mr2 3sgte and a gt4 3sgte? I suspect that on an mr2 the ignitor is mounted closed to the dizzy and would require a shorter wire.
Is there a P/N for just the coil wire? Does anyone know what coil wire I would need to be using? Are the P/N different for 93 mr2 and 93 gt4? |

That coil wire has never been replaced since the swap. I replaced all the ignition components on the car at some point but ran into the same problem you did with the coil wire. We tried the existing coil wire and the problems we were having went away with the installation of the other ignition components. I am not sure if the all-trac coil wire will work but its definitely worth a shot since its time to replace that piece - and I know Wannabe would not steer you wrong.

I noticed my replacement has a 2007 stamp on it while the old one has a 1998 stamp on it, so it is possible that it could be the one that originally came with the car 10 years ago.. Hopefully the all-trac one is long enough BTW Wannabe, how do you select all-trac on 1sttoyota.com? I'm looking for a price/ p/n for a pass side axle shaft, but can only select celica, and not further it down to all-trac. This post has been edited by 6gsillyca: Apr 6, 2008 - 11:53 PM |

Dunno about that. I use the Toyota EPC to find my part numbers then just plug 'em into their part number look up. I'll try and remember when I get home to get that part number for you.
As far as the coil wire being long enough, I mounted my coil right under the ignitor in the stock location and the whole set of 92-93 all-trac plug wires worked fine. -------------------- Project ST204.5 99.88946% complete... |

you normally just look up celica or mr2, and then it will list parts for turbo and none turbo models.

So I got my shipment from 1sttoyotaparts with my coil wire and a vc gasket...
The P/N is the same one Wannabe posted up (19590-74150) but the wire is the same length as the one I recieved with my mr2 wire kit...Only difference is the (19590-74150) wire has 90* clips on both ends... is that the right p/n or...? This post has been edited by 6gsillyca: Apr 23, 2008 - 10:27 PM |

That's the wire I used and it fits fine with the coil mounted on the igniter bracket. How is your coil mounted? If your coil is mounted somewhere else or orientated differently you may just need to move it.

Not sure how it is mounted from the factory, but mine is on the firewall. Will try and get a pic of it tomorrow.
How long is your wire? The 1st one I got (with my mr2 kit) was 11". The 2nd one (from 1sttoyota, with the P/N you supplied) was also 11". You mentioned the alltrac wire is longer.. Not a very close-up shout, but you get the idea. Try not to pay too much attention to the chaos that is my engine bay... This post has been edited by 6gsillyca: Apr 24, 2008 - 2:22 AM |

That is what I have read aswell, but was not able to find "concrete" evidence.
Is the wire you are using 11" as well? If so, then how is your coil mounted? |

Your dizzy looks like it is mounted closer to the firewall than mine. Also your coil is positioned perpendicular to the firewall. The bracket your coil is mounted on also appears to be different than mine. I will grab a few closer pics of how my stuff is mounted.
What is that grey box with the horizontal slits to the left of the coil? It doesn't look like you have it. There is an L bracket that is attached to that box, and the "L" is facing my coil, so it makes it very tight in there, and I need to run the coil wire through the bracket. From memory his stuff looks like MR2 parts whereas yours look like altrac/GT4 stuff [but that's just from memory].
To clear this up - the altrac wire is longer. The cap is different too - one has clips like the later 5S's do and the other does not [or something to that effect]. I can get a measurement of my altrac/gt4 wire at lunch. BRB Edit1: Here's an older pic of how my stuff is mounted if this helps anyone [nvm the disconnected vacuum hoses - I was working on replaceing them at the time I took this pic for reference]: This post has been edited by DEATH: Apr 24, 2008 - 11:33 AM -------------------- ENGINE: '93 RC 3S-GTE/WRC CT-20b [18-20PSI] PERF: TRD/HKS/ARP/NGK/MSD/ACT/Blitz/STRI/APEX'i/TwosRus/GReddy/Magnaflo/KOYO SUSP: Tein/Bilstein/SusTech/ INT: SS-III SEATS/Toyota Hyper Sports EXT: WRC/TRD/404 Its a safety feature so that people like you don't end up killing themselves or everyone around them. I would assume my parts are *mostly* mr2 parts, as it was an mr2 clip that was used for my install.
Wannabe's coil wire looks the same as the one I just recieved (11" w/ 2 90* clips). He said he is using alltrac coil wire. Same length as the one from my mr2 wire kit. |

My bracket is the stock 94-95 bracket for the igniter. I think I may have modified the coil bracket to mount it under the ignitor facing the front of the car.

Wannabe, your ignitor is also facing towards the front. Did you modify that as well, or just the bracket for the coil?
what is the bracket to the left of the coil/igniter, and what is the grey slatted box attached to the bracket? this is what is connected to the bottom of the grey slatted box |

The grey slatted box is your injector resistor pack. The VSV next to my ignitor is for the AC idle up system.
