Hi, i recently bought a cooling plate for the car and i tried installing it yesterday but ran into some issues.

First my hood support bar (bar to hold the hood up) was not locking down correctly with the plate installed and also the hood wont close properly...i blame my hood support bar to be the problem here (i think it is pried a bit since it runs really close to the hood latch...even touch it a little).

I want to see pics of yours (locked down) to see what shape it should have and where it should run...ill try to get a pic of mine soon.

btw, what is the correct name for that bar...(if i want to order a new one)?

TIA

If you look carefully at the shape of the metal under the cooling plate, you'll notice an arc indent that allows the bar to sit away from the hood (bonnet) catch. If you have purchased a knock-off cooling plate, the plate won't follow the arc but instead go straight across. This causes the support bar to foul the catch, preventing the hood from closing properly.

You may have some luck bending the hood support bar - it really depends on how thick the cooling plate is, how square or rounded the folds are and how square or rounded the actual hood latch is. But the best bet is just to wiggle the hood support bar out of its retaining hole and put the bar in the trunk (boot) temporarily. Then look to get some hood struts.

I have this issue as well with a vincent_doggy panel. I don't think i'm having a closing problem, but then again i'm have some closing issues with my strut bar (which will be fixed soon).

If you have the one from Vincent Doggy, then here is what the bar should look like before you put the hood down:

the prop just snug fit in place

Or you can just take it out completely and leve it in the trunk like some of the other members have done.

^ That's exactly what i did with mine. The metal strip there actually holds it secure. I have not heard of it catching the latch though...
