I took my car to a shop awhile ago, and along with the speedometer not working, they fixed the cruise. My cruise control worked for a long time, but now it doesnt. I read a bunch of posts where other people had problems with it, and I checked for the most common symptom which was the back of the button popping out... Mine looks good I think. Anyways, the cruise light comes on and turns off when it is supposed to, but never actually works with the engine. I noticed that there was a cruise control actuator for sale in the F/S threads... Could that be the problem? Should I check it on my car, and if so, where is it located. Any suggestions would be great. Thanks for your help.

QUOTE(mneal2_92788 @ Jul 23, 2007 - 1:10 PM) mine does that too. i turn it on, but if i puch it really hard to set it i may have to do it twice but it will work. i think mine just needs to be cleaned. I might spray some of that contact cleaner in the switch, and then see if it works. But the problem almost seems mechanical. Not sure, but I'll give it a shot. Is it hard to take the switch apart? |

I've checked the fuse box in the car and the one under the hood, but I cant tell which is the cruise control fuse. None of them are labeled cruise, cruise control, or cc... or anything. Does anybody know where its at?
thanks for your help |

i had this same problem and it turned out to be real simple. look behind the cruise control lever and see if this dinky little plastic cover came off. it doesnt seem well engineered and tends to pop off or get loose (especially if there are frequent changes in temperature. winter in my case). when this happens the contacts dont always touch. the fix simply involves popping it back in.
my two cents. hope it helps -------------------- i love how my wheel hopping, corner rolling, one wheel wonder celica looks XD |
