I have been around drag cars since I can remember. I've been racing since I was 15 unfortunatly they have been all muscle cars, and I am not downing muscle cars cause I love them. But I want to get into the import crowd and start working on new cars. I have chosen the 6gen celica basicly because it beautiful and can look very aggresive when worked right.

soo I have a few questions for all of you experts on the subject, and maybe I can help you guys too?

1. Are these 6gen celica's a hard to find celica because I can't find them on any local car lot?

2. Is it possible to engine swap the 2.2 4cyl for the 7mgte ( turbo supra engine)?

What do all of you Race out there?

I dont race a celica yet, but I race my 71 camaro on the 1/4 it runs 9sec. if you want any pics just ask me.

Thanks for all the help,

I'm glad you chose a sixth generation Celica as your next car, and welcome to the site! smile.gif

Although it may be possible to swap in a 7M-GTE with lots of money, a better swap to do would be the 3S-GTE swap. It's a 2.0 liter DOHC turbocharged engine with lots of power from the factory and lots of potential. It's the engine that some MKIV Supra track racers swap into their cars instead of keeping the 2JZ-GTE if that tells you anything. wink.gif You can find more information if you do a search and check out the sticky threads in the engine/performance forum, but basically, if you're going to do this swap, you'll want to try to buy a Celica GT rather than an ST, because the swap will be easier if you've got a GT. smile.gif

A 7M-GTE is a sensitive engine...from experience I think a 3S-GTE will be a better choice for the 6GC.

3S-GTE is bout 255HP
7M-GTE is 232HP.

As for the 7M there are many performance parts for it but i don't know about the 3S-GTE. Custom work always works. How much power are you aiming for?

-I have both the supra + celica sittin outside my garage right now:)

Basicly I want enough power so that I can talk and back up what I have to say. I am thinkin...300 - 350hp would keep me satisfied until after high school. But speed isn't everything... it may be 95% of it... but the last 5% is style so I am thinkin... 95 celica gt w/ erebuni 404 kit, supra style wing, painted candy apple red with 2 black pin stripes going from front to back... I am not sure about rims I really havn't found " the right ones ".

What do you guys think about the Erebuni 404 body kit? I love it!!

Do you have a 6GC yet? If so is it hatchback or coupe? What are you planning to swap in? the 7M or 3S? Both can achieve that much power.

Dayam you're exciting me already, I've been waiting for someone with a fast 6GC to race with(derno why:))

300-350 horsepower is easily reachable, because the 3S-GTE has lots of aftermarket parts. smile.gif

Erebuni's 404 kit is very nice looking, though a lot of people have it. I personally would want some OEM SS-III front lips, OEM side skirts, and the OEM SS-III rear lips if I was going to get a kit for my car. It'd be a more subtle look, like this, and wouldn't be as low, but would cost a lot more than the 404 kit. I'd browse through some of the parts in the parts database to try to find some cool kits that you like, and then do a search to find out where to get them. Most of the best ones will have to be imported from Japan though, which costs a lot of money!

lol, no I dont have one yet, we are closeing on a property sale and when its all done my parents are thowing me 6 grand plus the money i have saved. SO I will have one soon. I want the Hatchback for sheer looks, and I have planned the 7m-gte but according to coomer its better to put the 3s-gte, so hey you guys are the experts on these haha, like i said earlier I know alot about muscle, and little a moderate amount about imports.

I probably wont get one right away, but what kind of turbos are good in 6gen celicas?

So you race NoObOne? haha what do you do in the 1/4...or do you street race?

very nice cars

basically, to get 300-350hp, you will need the 3rd generation 3sgte(255hp) a tranny from a celica ss3(some have lsd and all can stand a lot of power for ~$300).

after those basic parts and the actual swap, you will have to do all the basic upgrades and see where that gets you. a 3sgte is said to handle about 400hp @crank and still be reliable on stock internals. you might have to upgrade the turbo and fuel delivery, as well as remove the boost cut and perform an ecu upgrade.

im leaving stuff out but that is the jist of it. for about $10k you can have a celica GT with a 3rd gen 3sgte in it ready for mods.

If you want power and an easy car to get parts for, Get the GT hatchback. These guys are telling you the truth. A 3rd gen 3s in a hatch is a force that 90% of the cars on the road can't handle. Put a few basic mods on it and you have a auto-x beast that can hang with most anything.

Jon

to be honest i wanted that kit before i even knew about this site, i also know were i can get it for 400 bucks and being on a budget its prolly what ill go for!
as far as im aware aside from importing kits, were in the same if not worse situation as the rest of you, the 404 or carcept (which i dont like) are the only two you can physically buy here, please please please tell me im wrong someone cos a bit of choice without havin to import would be very nice!
maybe youre thinkin of the actual cars, i know we have a wider choice of models than most over here?! wink.gif

Yeh the 404 kit has allways been my favorite since I have been looking at celicas.

Wow England huh.... I bet there is a good amount of car clubs / underground race people out there?
