Found this forum by accident. I was googling for some information to solve the problem of water sloshing around in one of my side panels ('99 convertible).

I've had the car since September but also had an '01 Spyder till last month and hung out in SpyderChat. Now I love the guys over at SpyderChat but now that I don't have a Spyder anymore (boo hoo) it seems more and more a waste of time to hang out there.

Much as I loved my Spyder there were things that made it easy to move on:
No space for 3rd or 4th passenger
No space for luggage
No room to put seat back and snooze in the rest stop
No cruise control (gets pretty tiring on long trips)

When I spotted the Celica at Wilsonville Toyota I fell in love instantly and had to have it. Oh, and Black is the fastest color.

Some of the stuff we talked about over at SpyderChat was things like how and why to gut your precats (Spyders had a nasty habit of eating precats), meet locations, times and dates, performance and appearance mods, stuff like that.

There was also a great bit of good natured goofing off over there.

Well enough about me, I'm going to learn how to search and all that on this board.

Welcome to the site!

I'm guessing the water has something to do with where your top meets the rear of your car?

I'm sure very shortly one of our vert guys will have an answer for you!

Hot Damn! A neighbor! And the best part is, I work literally a MILE AWAY from Wilsonville Toyota!

So hi!

I don't have a 'vert though, so I can't offer any insight there, but nice find none the less. I drive by Wilsonville Toyota often and even called them last summer when I was looking for my 6th gen. I'll have to keep an eye out for you around here. As for me, you'll know me when you see me, mine is about the only (other) 6th gen around the immediate area.

I talked to an attractive young woman who had a white 99 convertible, in Tigard, last month. What a nice car it was.
Oh, and I saw another black convertible on the 99E between Hubbard and Wilsonville earlier this month.

Welcome! Good to see another NW Vert on here smile.gif

About the water, you should check that the drain hole isn't plugged up by gunk..that happened w/ my car as well.

verts , ok. All right.

If your vert is starting to collect water, start looking the drain sites, located near the rear tires, sometimes they get plugged, i dont have a pic, but take your car to a pressure wash and wash the rear tire area underneath the part facing the front of the vehicle. shoots, hope did not confuse. There is a post about taht here somewhere.

I think black is a good color, need a tan top tough.... biggrin.gif

Welcome, my fellow open air enthusiast, from far, far away! As covered already, the drain is the best bet. Nice ride - that is a sweet finish! I also think the tan top would make it, though. wink.gif

^^^ IMO tan tops don't look as good as black tops on any dark colored convertible. But that's me.

'Nother thing I like about my Celica is the black leather seats.
I had been looking for Celica seats to put in my Spyder. But even at the junkyard they were really pricey...

very nice looking car, good find. The leather seats make a world of a difference, barring any extreme temperatures wink.gif
