QUOTE(gate4sweden @ May 7, 2008 - 5:24 AM) Hi i am really into getting a silver top to my st 1.8 7afe engine! i am wondering if any mods are needed? and if i will get better effekt on my car! thank you im to considering that option on my st. there's no modification to do. it bolts right in the mounts you already have. your transmission fits the silvertop block, and the engine is faster than a 5s-fe(gt model). you can later on turbo it. and add more stuff to it as you go. i think its agreat engine to have as a starter and work your way up to turbo it. thats the way i want to go, you can do it too..... by the way its a 1.6 litter engine(saves you a little gas too.) lol |

turbo wouldnt be a great idea because its high compression. Yes you can do it but not with much boost at all. Also youre gonna to need a throttle cable from a paseo or tercel.

If your planning on adding a turbo setup to the silvertop, you will need to lower the compression ratio and either make or buy a solid metal intake plenum instead of using the 2-piece intake plenum that comes with the silvertop. I believe it was Paradise Racing that was selling ARIAS 20v 8:1 Turbo piston (Low compression). -------------------- |

It would be more cost effective to just swap out the motor, not just the head. I believe more money and work was involved in making a 20v 7age, which is what you are thinking about doing. I remember a thread in club4ag about it a while back. Also, if you want to do a 7age, just go find yourself a a good 16v 4age head to work with. Parts are easier to find and you won't have as much of a problem building it compared to using a 20v head with the 7a block. If you want to go more in depth with sort of build, go and contact Nik on the forum. He already built a 7age with a 16v head and the hp numbers he had is impressive.

Yes you can swap the top but alot more work will be involved as well as the money. IMO using a 16v head on the 7a block is more cost effective as well as more performance parts is available.

any "A" series head will fit your block, just some will be harder to tune/get running right.
i would like to see a 20V 7AGE but lets not do tht just bc ppl want to see it. if you want the whole 4AGE then go and do that The stock 4AGE will be a lot more revv happy as its bore:stroke ratio is close to 1:1 and you'll be able to hit those RPMs safer than any stock 7A -------------------- QUOTE "And, as always, your friendship, help, and dedication to the advancement of Texas Celica dominance is GREATLY appreciated. only some of the 4AGEs are rwd. the newer ones are all FWD though. just search something like JDM engines and you'll see everywhere you can get ahold of them and prices and such
