1-1/4" hole saw bit... its a ****ing joke. easy as pie Yup, learnt it the hardway, it helps if you start with a smaller size then gradually inscrease to the size you need. if u get one with a starting bit, basicly a drill bit with the hole saw attach ment, it will drill a pilot hole for u, then u can drive it home, without worry -------------------- Kawi Love |

Are the gear ratios much different from the 3sge tranny than a s54 tranny? Also, your tranny only has a helical lsd, gonna upgrade to those Kaaz 1.5 way ones that are being sold on ebay for nearly 1g?
And since you had your tranny out and everythign already, from what it looks like; you're still using your stock flywheel, why not get an upgraded one and upgrade clutch while you're at it if you hadn't already done so. Is there anything you have to change to fit the tranny up in ur car with ur engine? Can't wait to see how your car runs afterwards man! |

i have a 3rd gen 3sge engine already in my car, took it from a car with same engine, just manual, so i didn't have to change anything. not upgrading the LSD, and my engine is completely stocked out, so a performance clutch and lightweight flywheel wouldn't get me too much, and i like to take my upgrades in stride. i'll enjoy the crap out of finally having a manual again, then upgrade the clutch and flywheel, possibly add a short throw kit.
i'll have more pics up tonight of todays work (well, in the morning for those of you in the states). we have the tranny mounted and all the mounts reattached. just need to connect the half-shafts, suspension & sensors, and tear apart the interior for the shifter, clutch and gauge cluster changes. -------------------- ~Andy

took plenty of pics but left my camera in the car. had to swap one of the half shafts and the bottom frame work due to the car i pulled from having McPherson suspension, and mine has superstrut, keeping the superstrut. pulled the dash out (that was fun!), swapped shifters, installed short throw, tomorrow is clutch, brake, gauges and finish... well, that's the plan. i'll have pics from today and tomorrow up... tomorrow.
thanks for all the kudos and support. This post has been edited by stetsonaw: May 24, 2008 - 11:56 AM -------------------- ~Andy

wow. that's crazy. You can put in a left hand drive clutch pedal without even removing that plastic lower kick panel.

well, the swap is complete, shifts great, did a heck of a burnout, chirped 2nd not gonna post pics yet, interior looks the same as it did before i took it apart, just with a clutch and a manual shifter (which is without a knob due to the razo knob i bought bein a piece of junk. only problem now is ball joints and it's overheating, wasn't before the swap oh, and calibrate my speedometer.
