What are the colored dots on my tires and why are they on there? They are only on two of the rims.

i had a red and yellow dot on the tires when they were brand new but they came off eventually.....

theyre just to help the tyre manufacturers out, basically a sort of way of categorising the tyres when theyre on the rack
they eventually wear off and are a good thing to look out for when buying second hand wheel/tyres, if theyre still there youre onto a winner! |

If the dots your talking about are either red or yellow,
and appear on the side wall. the dot 'should' be aligned up with the vavle. it is the manufactures indication of ballance taking into consideration the valve. yeah they're just a way of showing the high point and the low point of the tire. I learned this stuff cus i mount tires for a living. Turbotone was correct in saying the tire mounter has to line up the dot (the yellow one) with the valve. Then when you balance the tire u get a better and more accurate reading on the balncer. That's all it is, it comes off over time.
