So I have enough cash now to throw around. Starting with
Web-Cam hardweld
Ross Pistons and Rods (if someone would answer my thread about its fit)
Apex SafcII (give it a good tune)
CraneCam HIR-6TI (i think thats the model#)
MSD Coil
Nology Wires (i guess my NGK's wont due)

Along w/ my basic intake/exhaust, pulley and plugs.

Pesonally I like N/A Im not looking for a turbo charged monster I know the 3sgte is the ultimate swap but I starting to respect my 5sfe the more posts i read on the MR2 boards. I want an all N/A celica that will be alot more zippier and respectable. So if you can tell me what you think you would do add or subtract to the list above.

Remember..I want N/A not a 3sgte.

Also, I'd consider a lightweight flywheel. I was talking to Neipas09, and he said he felt a very nice gain in acceleration after installation of his new clutch and flywheel. smile.gif

Also, don't forget time on a dyno to tune your S-AFC2 properly. wink.gif

well since you have an auto, i suggest doing some work to that.

get a performance TC and a shift kit. a performance TC in general shaves about 1/2 a second of of your ET and makes response better all around. the shift kit makes the tranny shift as fast, if not faster than a 5spd with out missshifts.

if you have $3k o spend on just the tranny, you could get a fully rebuilt performance tranny for your car from www.levelten.com.

bore out you throttle body and get larger injectors, custom intake manifold, replace you valve springs, port and polish, raise the CR, upgrade the fuel pump, performance FPR, oil cooler, tranny cooler

just throwing out some ideas

For the intake manifold you can use a JDM 3sfe one. Its a direct bolt on and with a 60mm TB its been said to get gains around 40hp on the mr2. You will need some bigger injectors (supra N/A 7mge ones will do) and if I were you I would also go with a complete stand alone EMS. You said you've been reading up on the mr2 boards so Im sure you realized that but most all the hardballers over there have one and sware that tuning the 5sfe is the key.

you also might want some cam gears, headers, you could instead of getting a new manifold and boring out your throttle body get the intake manifold ported and throttle body ported to your manifold. i would suggest look to your cooling system as well ie. a new 3 row aluminum radiator. if your looking to make a outright n/a racing machine remove your power steering pump, and for thouse days at the track have a smaller belt that you can use to take your altenator outta the equasion, thus eleminating drag on your crank..... just remeber to charge your batery first haha....... thats all i have for you right now, ill be back with more later

If you're going N/A, I would probably put off the pistons and rods. Get your motor compression tested, if it is way off, do the pistons and rods. If not, spend the money on head work, ie. port and polish, port match. A $20 test can save you hundreds.

The 5sfe only has 1 cam gear. The exhaust cam is a slave to the intake cam. I havent seen any cam gears for the 5sfe but I am like 75% sure a HKS one for the 3sgte will work. Also you will need only 1 header for the 5s.

well if you have money to throw around you should do something most poeple don't think about...you should retune you transmission... whats the point of having a zippy N/A car.. but your transmission doesn't let you show off the power that engine trully has..

Do you mean getting new gears with different ratios and an LSD?

Yeah, ive never heard of putting a 3SFE intake manifold in place before....but im really interested now. smile.gif Im imagining putting in the 60mm intake manifold, 7MGE injectors, and a performance flywheel and clutch....from the sounds of it you could free up a decet ammount of power by doing soemthing like that.

So by swapping the 5SFE manifold for a 3SFE manifold, you could get gains of somewhere around 40 horsepower tops without any other tuning like SAFC, etc.??

coomers right about the tranny and flywheel..... you can put all the power into the engone that you want but if you can use it whats the purpose of using it........ ummm a few more ideas are to reduce wieght whenever possible.... i believe , correct em if im wrong but for every 7 bls you loose you gain like one hp... anyone know for sure?

Theres only 1 jdm 3sfe engine. Also you can use the cams for about 6k instead of the 5800 that the 5sfe ones get.

You don't actually gain horsepower from reducing weight, just like you don't gain horsepower from a lightweight flywheel. You'll be able to accelerate faster though with less weight, because the engine uses the same amount of horsepower to move less weight. wink.gif
