Hi all, I joined 6gc.net just recently as I have purchased a 94 GT in Feb of this year.

My problem is this. I unplugged the battery connectors to work on the steel brake lines which snapped on the highway. I was able to buy OEM for $112 at the dealer, but it may have been better to buy the $5.99 ones and use unions as the so-called OEM pre-bent ones were a mess when I got them.

Anyway, when I put the brake lines and charged up my battery, the OEM radio displays "SEC" and when I spoke with a dealer to resolve the problem, they didn't tell me how to fix but they offered to fix it for $50. Now, when dealers give you a price like that, it must be an easy fix! It would have been easy to resolve if the previous owner told me the code...well would have helped if he didn't sell me a lemon either....this car has so many problems, but I love it....

So, can anyone help me out? I am comfortable with fixing things, so I just need to know once I take the radio panels off and pull out the radio itself. It must have something to do with the backside right?

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

i have no idea how to fix it, but here's a workaround...

Step 1: looks like a good time excuse to upgrade from that oem radio biggrin.gif (put the $50 you save by not getting ripped by the dealer to help out with this step)
Step 2: Do THIS to your oem radio.

Have a nice day smile.gif

lol. Yea I know, but I wanna get it ready to sell as I am interested in a 98 or 99 Celica GT instead of the 94 I have. I need something working in there so that when a buyer gets the car, he'll have the radio. It'll be his/her choice to put in a non-OEM radio.

Thanks! I'll wait for more responses so that I can get a possible solution.

Celicas ROCK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Maybe I should just go to my parents country and get the SS-III used and bring it over here so I don't have to worry about the problems! hah

i got my uncle who works at toyota to fix mine. i would get a 'HELP' msg on the display. he said he had to contact the head office here in Canada to obtain the code. there is a code that corresponds to the stereo model number. the stereo model number is usually a 5-digit number that can be seen somewhere on the face of the stereo.

post the model number and if it's the same as mine, i can tell you the instructions on how to unlock your stereo.
