OK i just got my sportlines ordered so they will be in in the upcoming weeks.
I want 17's so what is the best tire to go with a 17x7 wheel? and how do you read the metric sizes? I'm still used to standard number's such as 35x12.50x15. So is it the 205/40 or the 215/45? What is the diff? Oh yea, if you have any picture of this setup, 1.5 drop and 17's would you post some good pics? I'm liking the Volk look alike wheels. Thanks! |

205 is the width of the tire and 40 is the profile. Generally you get tires that match the rim not just because they are 17's. Smaller profile is better for looks and bigger profile for better ride comfort. The 205/215 could be placed on the same rim but you would have tire curving going on.

I know we talked about this on aol, but in case it could help anyone else:
The first number is the width of the tire in millimeters, measured from sidewall to sidewall. The second number is the aspect ratio. This is a ratio of sidewall height to width. The last number is the diameter of the wheel in inches. (rim size) |

215/45 is the best size. good ride comfort, protection for your expensive rims, thin enough to reduce sidewall flex. trust me on this one
