laugh.gif "oh yeah and I guess he knows a few things about that powdercoating stuff too...I guess"
So yeah, Griffy and Jazzcoronet - I'm contemplating doing the VC and Turbo heat shield. I 'm pretty sure red would be waaay too much and loose the look I got going already [which for once in my life I'm actually getting high praise for]:

[Actually this pic is a little old - more things are cleaned prepped and painted black while more vac lines have been replaced with red slicone hosing but you get the idea] But if you could do me a quick PS on that Griffy I'd be grateful.
Anyway, baring that idea I'd just keep the current color scheme: Black block, aluminum head/VC/intake mani/Turbo Heat shield or should I go with a high temp crome-ish color?

Cromeish color? Good lord no... Common bro...

Keep the flatish black & red thru out that bay. And if you could black out all that silver in there, with contrasting redness, it'd deff be the hot sh... Stuff. Hot Stuff. I say you buy it. (After my next paymet to you ofcorse wink.gif )

I'm gonna have to agree with the black. Personally I'd actually go matte black on the valve cover with red accents. I need to see what your VC looks like though. Look! I found this:

That red is pretty sweet, but IMO would be overkill in your bay. Go black with Toyota in red. Maybe even the little ridge across the center red too. Eh, maybe not. (I feel a photoshop request coming on smile.gif )

High temp black for the heat shield, no question.

(crap, I just re-read your post and saw the PS request! LOL!)

OOOh I'm digging that. I also like your idea of the box shaped bossing around the Plug holes in red too.
Keedoke - PS request time. Take that pic of my engine bay above and work the above magic on there and let's see what that looks like - just might be the ticket. Then again the motor might get lost in all that black. remember the head will still be aluminum uncoated so....

Edit - nvm. from that view it just be all black kindasad.gif Maybe this isn't such a good idea?

Oh and D-Man - by cromeish I really meant just a little less flatter than bare aluminum but still keeping the same look as I have but with easier to clean coating. Not really chrome - just chromeish biggrin.gif

Yeah, sorry, that's a no on the PS request, it'd be too much work (we're busy now that one of us is gone) plus it really won't show up in that pic.

If you want "chrome-ish", have you considered Silvertone Vein or Hammertone Black? Go to the site to see the colors and you'll see the swatch samples. (I'm in the process of hooking up links to products with those finishes for that page, but there's a LOT of little squares!)

holy crap, i go to work for a day to get some powdercoating done and i come home to this?!?!?!?!?!?

griify, you rock! thanks for keeping the thread alive and enterntaining these requests. my reccomendation to you would be to send me your VC, heat shield, compressor housing, intake manifold, alternator housing, thermostat housing, and coolant neck to be coated in sating black to match your intercooler piping. the letters on the valve cover could be safety red to match the rest of the bay. wink.gif

seriously, i think super wet black with silver vein mettalic lettering would be really hot for your valve cover. here's a pic of my valve cover on my daily with the same scheme

or better yet, here's a perfect example!!

btw, here is a pic of that exact color scheme

THIS IS NOT MY WORK

These photos were taken by my competitor on mr2oc and are shown only for the sake of displaying color.

the colors used here are mirror black and red. in the event i did this scheme, i would use super wet black and safety red which are much more radiant colors than those and of course the quality would speak for itself

griffy was talking about the center piece coated the same as the lettering. it can be done for an extra fee. this requires beaucoup amounts of work. here's a pic of one in silver vein and super wet black. the quality is crap and i only snapped the picture for the sake of seeing the color scheme. this particular valve cover has since been blasted and redone with more time and effort into it.

Death's gonna want as close to a blood red as possible on that VC lettering if he goes that route (which I agree he should)

That silver vein metallic lettering looks way cool too though. But if I know him a bit, he'll go red.

Monday bump, by the way!

You know me too well.
OK Jazzcoronet [I know I'm a PITA - I know] - what would it cost to get your GT4 VC done with just the Toyota in Red and the rest wet black like you said [nvm the center epice - thanks for the example] and just keep it - no trade out? In other words how much to keep the core?

$65 for the coating job and $50 for the core. so it would be $115 + shipping. i would say $13 for shipping (11lb VC pretty much always sees $13 shipping charges). so $128 out the door!

also, the high temp gloss black appears to match your intercooler piping perfectly if you wanted to get your heat shield coated as well. if you send that to me, i could feasibly do that for $40 extra (and i wont charge for retrun shipping either)

and one final note, here's a teaser of a service that we will offer soon. i haven't perfected it yet, but im working on it.

this particular color changes from gold to magenta depending on the way you look at it and the way the light hits it. it can only be applied over dark base coats......and yes, that is PLASTIC that i'm coating!!!!!!!!!

Oh damn that's cool. Can you do any other color to another?
And those prices are great.
