its hard to tell. I'd say go for it. Just make sure that you get a good start. And try to make some sort of a makeshift heat shield for your intake.

I raced some kid at school with a 2001 Civic EX with exhaust, header, intake, plugs, wires, fuel rail, short shifter, and some other stuff, and I got beat pretty bad. frown.gif His car was pretty quick; Probably partly because of his mods.

i say it depends on how you both drive, because my friend has a 95 civic and he can take the 2000+ celica gt, all he has is intake and exhaust.

you should take him because my boy had a 2001 civic ex with the sohc vtec ya know and i drove that piece and it was like slow man i couldnt stand it...... ive been wondering for a while do celicas have like a weird type of gearing or somethig bc at the track i take everything off the line like everything it launches so fast in 1st gear but when i hit 2nd it just like slows down and bogs whats up is it me or is all celicas like that???

Hi Guys!

I do not know anything about the civics except the si and so.

But here is a thought.

Same driver:

Look at the a car weight

Then the HP.

I also believe that the civic engine is a performance engine which will also rev high and fast.

Transmission gearing, structure stability including suspension and other variables in the equation.

The Celica's are not performance car in the USA except the GT Four. If you have the Celica's like what is in the UK, Australia, Japan and so on, you will definitely be beating or on the tail of those civics since you will have a ST202 Celica (not sold in the USA) which comes with over 190HP which will also counteract the heavy celica to the light civic.

Again, just a thought.

Happy New Year!

I dont' understand why you're tripping over winning or losing to a honda(civic). Before i raced one of my honda buddies, he keeps on challenging me to a race in his 97 Prelude. So one day he let me share rides with him and he was showing off his car's power. At first i thought i was gonna get toasted if i went against him because his car feels fast. He than asked if i was scared and i replied "No". He was surprised. So than i started to practice my launches...well guess what? i WOOPED his butt! whoo hoo:)

All in all, sometimes you lose sometimes you don't. Practice that launch!

I wouldn't recommend racing with your Celica. Imagine a Civic wooping on Celica...what a shame. Everyone would laugh.

also take out everything the is necessary for the race. Subs, spare tire, passenger seat etc. I don't think that this would work but my dumas* friend does it all the time. He puts his stock intake on and drives to where they are going to race then he has his racing intake in a cooler full of ice. He puts the intake in a plastic bag or he puts the ice in a bag i can't remember which but he puts his racing intake right before he races. For some reason he thinks that if the inake is cold then it will make the air colder too. I guess that he has a good concept but I never tried it. You could also wrap your intake in some sort of heat resistant material

STrip your CAr. If it's a 1-2-3 countdown than launch before 1 ends to get head start. If at a traffic light, look for the orange light on the other side and get ready to launch before the green light turns on...... biggrin.gif

It will be a driver's race. Let us know the results if you race. Good luck!

Hmm...ice on the intake sounds like an unusual but good idea, i wonder if it actually works. Does ur friend have good results from doing this?
