Witch aplication does the Celica (particularly BEAMS) run better with:
A) Standard air-box with an upgraded air filter (K&N, TRD) B) Loose the air box, fit good brand induction kit (cone filter) with a cold air feed and some sort of heat shield Option B allows alot more air to be sucked in but the trouble is its HOT air. Cold air contains more oxegen witch equals more bang so option A would be better for this but has a more restrictive flow. The BEAMS engine is quite a high flow intake so the more air and the faster it can get there the better but again more hot air isnt necessarily better then slightly less cold air. Some engines suffer from induction kits, is BEAMA have this problem? I have an induction kit at the moment but i've never went down the air-box and upgraded panel filter route. Anybody got any experience? the extra noise from an induction kit isnt important to me as my exhaust overshadows the engine noise anyway -------------------- ![]() |

I had a TRD dropin on a 5S-FE - felt no difference. Then again I didn't have a BEAMS either.

Well I have beams with both hks&sard induction kits and also standard airbox with stock filter. So far I have been most happy with sard.
Feels like more kick at high rpms over standard airbox. Hks induction was leaning a/f too much (banging exhaust) also poor low rpm performance. Worked better with standard exhaust. Sard comes with a little ring which you glue to afm, I think it helps afm to see right amount of air (less turbulence or something). It would be intresting to dyno all of these.. It's hard to tell difference without. I have no cold air feed nor heat shield. Imho standard airbox is very restrictive to airflow, go with option B. |

i've just fitted an induction kit and the car certainly sounds faster but it seems to get slower the hotter the engine gets
![]() i had the same problem on my previous car (passat) and the general consensus was an induction kit was only beneficial if you were running at over 100 mph and it ran a lot better with a k+n panel filter hope this helps |

if the filter is pretty much "open" in the engine bay....the hotter your engine gets the hotter the air is that is being sucked in.
drop in k&n panel filter in the OEM box. remove the resonators in the fender and run a duct from the front bumper opening to the box. |
