So tonight me and my mom decided to drive to DQ in my car and we made it about a mile from my house and the car started makeing a noise and the pedals started shakeing. The noise was like a sound a car makes when you drive over a newly paved road with wet tar except the noise was comeing from my engine. This is probably the 10th time Ive ever driven the car and about 5 of those times was in parking lot learning to drive a stick. The car just had 2,500 worth of work done. Ive only had it for about 2 months

I was not pushing it hard although i dont know what RPM i was at. I went form 1st to 2nd gear and about 1 second after it did that it started makeing that nosie, it kinda sounded like somthing was being shreaded or bouncing all around in there. And I didnt look under the hood cuz #1. I wouldnt know what hell i was looking at (im new to these things) and #2. it was night time and i was on the side of the highway so I wouldent be able to see anything. My mom is gonna call AAA in the morning and get it towed to the local shop. Got any idea what it could be? I know im not that big of a help but im trying to describe it as best I can. The car didnt actually die but I didnt keep driving it because I didnt want to make it worse, It sounded really bad

The car just got towed. The noise would stop when the car was off but as soon as I started it again(I had to pull further off the road) the car would do it again. The list of things that just got fixed are: Replaced water pump, timeing belt, seals and oil pump seal and gasket, replaced valve cover gasket, Replaced clutch asslembly and rear engine main seal, resurfaced fly wheel, replaced valve cover gasket, and new radiator and thermostat. I pulled the list out of my car before they towed it. All of those parts pluse labor came to $2,520.62

It sounds from the description like a bearing that's going out - you said you had the clutch replaced, and that the incident occurred when you shifted. Is it possible the throwout bearing is bad?

The Good News Is that nothing is seriously wrong, it turns out that two of the drive belts snaped so it is only $33.38 in parts to replace. The Bad News is that the shop Charged $85.00 to put it in. In all costing $121.21. But I am very thankful that it was not something worse!

Wait - they did all the work you described earlier and then charged you to fix their mistakes? If they didn't change the belts cause you opted not to that's your fault but if they changed the belts and installed them too tightly that's their fault. Who changes the timing belt, water pump etc and doesn't change the drive belts? Something sounds fishy.
I hate when mechanics take advantage of people who don't know engines/cars. When I brought the car in the first time it was to have the antenna fixed, but when he looked under the hood he said all the stuff I listed a few comments up needed to be replaced, so my mom told him to go ahead and fix it. He never mentioned anything about any belts (other than a timing belt). When I got the car back, my uncle looked at it and said that those things did need to be replaced. Then it broke down. When my mom talked to the mechanic yesterday he did say sorry he didnt catch the problem the first time but that was it. I wish I knew more about cars so I could work on it myself.

Nah it's cool - the mechanic just should have known better than to replace the Tbelt but not the others while they were off anyway. I hope everything works great for a good long time now - that's the most important thing.
You're in the right place to learn about your car - many of us here couldn't change spark plugs when we came here [I have certainly learned alot even tho I had quite a bit of knowledge before hand]. -------------------- ENGINE: '93 RC 3S-GTE/WRC CT-20b [18-20PSI] PERF: TRD/HKS/ARP/NGK/MSD/ACT/Blitz/STRI/APEX'i/TwosRus/GReddy/Magnaflo/KOYO SUSP: Tein/Bilstein/SusTech/ INT: SS-III SEATS/Toyota Hyper Sports EXT: WRC/TRD/404 Its a safety feature so that people like you don't end up killing themselves or everyone around them. $10/hr at a dealership is unheard of. where I work its $90/hr for customers and $61 for employees. Our master techs get paid around $25/hr so we can't charge anyone any less than that. But I work in the service dept so I pay $0 for labor
