ok, so two weekends ago, i got myself a new celi. its a silver 94 GT 5speed hatch, its got a invader rear and sides, stock front. leather, loaded package with premium door panels, not the intire system, but its gonna be overhauled.

well, i didnt expect this to be a project, not quite this soon. it has been in a max of 2 accidents, drivable, etc. but, has some wiring problems. sy some, i mean, im gonna be tearing out my entire old interior wiring from my other wrecked celi, and put it together the way its supposed to be.

problems include, but are nto limited to:
guages nto working, but the lights and other stuff works
door electronics not working,
sunroof not working
battery not gettin a charge. i have 2 alternators, both are in perfect working order, tried both, no luck. new wiring for it....well, im workin on it.
turns not working, but flashers work
brake lights dont work, all parking lights work.
wipers worked for a few, now dont.

now for the project in the works.

Step 1: Rewiring interior, strip under the dash, rewire it, and it will work. im certain its all the door control connector wires that need replacing. they are put together and its really wierd, and not just cut and put together with wirenuts or solder. its cut, and wired into other types of wires O.o i was so confused. i also have a plug, idk what it is, i couldnt find it on my other wiring, but ill get it. ok, so that is gonna be step one. this does happen to include running all new wires for my stereo, that means amp power, sub wires, all new speaker wire around.
oh forgot to mention, the front door speakers are kinda ther....they were ripped out, i mean the cone was torn out, but teh outside was used as the mount for other speakers. its all good, i may be able to use it, i prolly wont though.

Step 2:
under the hood wiring. nothing much really, just some real splicing of things, cause its done ok, just not good enough for me biggrin.gif

Step 3:
the good stuff, working from front to back(need to get a stock rear BTW wink.gif ) the remodel of the body. i have the TRD splitters, which fit like a charm dustin thanks, and i have some projectors by DCW, and the color looks amazing on my silver car, again dustin, thanx haha. so, i need to get teh wires for the angel eyes and the other light is going to be a DRL, just amber incolor. i need to change the LED all together. those are gonna be amazing when they are finished. i also have the JDM high beams. all are going on. i would like to get the facelifted bumper if i find one, but idk. anywho, thats the project for the front. next will be to work on the rear bumper, ill see how teh TRD's look on the front before i commit to getting a stock rear to put those trds on. if i like the way it looks, i may just sell my rear trd's, idk. haha. but ill prolly get the stock rear, and the trds mounted, and find some trd or stock sides. front fenders and passenger door, and hood need some placement work, but little. if i keep the rear invader, it neeeds fitment work, but i am failrly certain its just somebolts that werent put on correctly. nothin major at all. also a paint job will be in teh works, idk color though. i did see an awesome gunmetal color today, or maybe a deep deep red, we will see. or i did like the white when its new, polished, and not chipping ha. so that may work. we will see, it will actually be last i believe. money will rule this portion and the next of teh project.

Step 4:
interior, leather is, ok. will likely get it all changed out. well the front seats. im thinking the 7th gen, or maybe if i can find some 6th gen leathers in good condition. or, the foam is in great condition. so, what i will maybe do, is redo it all, and get it customed, colored, stitched, and maybe more. idk. i need to get a new stereo, thats coming. gonna get a flip out screen, or maybe go all out and do teh whole carpc, idk yet. im gonna make an ipod rest, idk where yet, but its in the works too. just making sure all is up to par and right. the black vinyl on the roof needs a little perfecting, but nothing much. im gonna paint my sunroof switch cover and the mirror. i need to make a new sunroof cover altogether, idk why but there isnt one there...idk why ha. so a custom one is likely biggrin.gif new speakers, and maybe a custom box for my subs, idk, maybe not. i like the box i have, but who knows.

as far as i am concerned, i like the gt's 2.2 litre motor. it has a short ram intake, and it makes a real difference. i may need a tune, idk. its got new timing, and oil. i think im gonna just replace the plugs and what not just for precaution. it has a changed out muffler, not exhaust, just muffler. its a connon, but it sounds good. haha. not farty, which was a concern. its deep and make it sound hard. lol. ill have pics, maybe later if i can find my cord or card reader. ill be updating this with news and more. let me knwo what you think and if you ahve help, by all means let it out! haha. ill prolly need it. somewhere in this project, im putting the dragon badge i have and the cursive "Celica" emblem. im stoked.

here are pics now..

Haha that's what I've done before I took the plastic assembly completely out, hacked up the 8" speaker to create an adaptor plate to 6", Placed a screw terminal on the end of the wire that was attached to the factory speaker and there we have plug & play mounting for 6" speakers. Who the hell uses 8" door speakers, esp 15w toyota papercones lol

update....

i now have all my interior wires done....it was a mess.

there were wires spliced and ran with new wires to cut out a short :-/
well i just cut out the shorts, there were like 30 of them, and fixed each one.

i now have working windows, mirrors, locks, guages, sunroof, cc, radio, aux power(cig lighter)

only thing i have left to fix inside may be teh brake lights...idk why but i have teh parking lights, but the brake wont get hot. the lights are fine, im gonna check that out this weekend i think.

paper cones arent necessarily "bad". it depends on the type of music you enjoy. The reason they use paper cones isn't to be cheap.. its because speakers generate sound by vibration. paper cone vibration is very responsive to changes in treble/bass/etc, meaning that when it stops receiving a bass signal for instance, the vibration ceases much quicker than say titanium, woven silk or other compounds used in speakers. Obviously, its your car and you are absolutely free to run with your ideas. Its just that a lot of people have the idea that paper cones are inferior to other compounds, but it like i said it depends on the kind of music you listen too. Paper cones and even silk have phenomenal sound transfer for classical, jazz, blues, and other similar genres, whereas if you down for the hard rock/whatever ya wanna call it, you will have much better transfer from titanium cones. /flamesuit-on, for instance all BOSE speakers are made with paper cones for just this reason..and I know a lot of people dislike BOSE for #1 their price, #2 they don't transfer the sound as well for harder type music, and #3 their price, but they are an excellent choice IF their are compatible with your listening style. /flamesuit-off. Other than that, the celi looks great and keep up the hard work tongue.gif

mk, big big steps today....
step one, complete
step two, complete.

turns out the entire problem was in fact, two wires that were badly spliced, and corroded. so fixed that and it runs like it should, actually better!
i re-spliced and fixed a total of my guess....50-60 wires. lots of work but not bad. haa.

so now the car is road ready except for one thing....the brake lights....not quite even tried that one yet hah. ill get there...

thank for reading

mk, brake lights, fixed. project silverlution, well underway.

the problem was (drum roll please) a splice i found b4, was cut again haha. so its cool. easy fixxxxxxx.

gonna go do what i can to get it registered now. still dont know why the stereo wont work, i think its just time to let it go. i need a new one. i have my eyes on a 7" touchscreen for 300 so ill prolly pick it right up. til then.....gettin teh front end to be straight, adding my JDM highs, my retrofitted projectors with angel eyes and sidemarker completed. and im hoping to find a 96+ front buper, and a stock rear end. i wanna get my splitters painted and on.

I admire people like you. You Ttake shoddy work and do it the right way. We also have similar tastes in modding, so watching you clean up this celica is fun. keep up the good work
