"League" Sports are just entertainment, like movie, I personally never really understood it. They are payed to entertain (think about it really, why would a player be payed to "play"? major league sports=big revenue.). Some take drugs to be better entertainer... Same thing liek music, entertainment. So if we're talking "fairness" here, I'm not suprised some fans are angry, but remember, it's like WWE.
blah, I hate all those TV sports. This post has been edited by Rayme: Jun 11, 2008 - 6:33 PM -------------------- -Rémy 02 SiR, 08 250R |

I stopped watching the NBA as a form of direct entertainment. I only keep track of it for my fantasy leagues now. All the BS "trades", teams spending hundreds of millions of dollars for crappy players (Max-contract? Stupidest idea EVER in the history of sports). It's just too much for me now....

isnt it obvious? the NBA has degenerated into crap. its only worth watching during the playoffs, and they know it, so they up the games to 7 and recently BOOM all of a sudden EVERY GAME is going to the 7th?!?? come on now, you can TELL they are playing and toying around.
remember, the players get extra$ for every game they play in the playoffs too! look up what rasheed wallace said..."its entertainment" he hinted at the games being fixed, which i realized A LONG time ago. NBA & basketball in general is NOT a true team sport, dosent require much discipline and dosent take alot of talent to play. just height and alot of practice. it dosent measure to decent sports=footbal, soccer, and hockey ever since mike left nba has been an epic fail. -------------------- |

Not a team sport. Such crap. There is a reason the US hasnt been able to win in the olympics. Because they throw a team together and cant play as a team like the other teams competing. It takes PLENTY of discipline and talent to play. How many players actually play college basketball? Then think about how many people actually MAKE it to the NBA...then think about how many players actually PLAY FOR AN NBA team...most basketball teams play 7 people in a game (8 if they're desperate). So if you calculate 8 players that actually play a decent amount of games for the entire season times 30 teams...240 players out of how many basketball players in the world actually play in the best basketball league in the world??? And you say it doesnt take a lot of talent to play? Ever wonder why players in And1 never make it to the NBA (with the exception of Rafer Alston)? They lack DISCIPLINE and dont understand the game. It takes plenty of discipline to play within an offensive and defensive system. This post has been edited by Sh0gunkid8721: Jun 12, 2008 - 11:07 PM -------------------- Note to new members. only like 3 of this years playoffs have been to game 7..... yeah, i was exaggerating/ranting lol NBA & basketball in general is NOT a true team sport, dosent require much discipline and dosent take alot of talent to play. just height and alot of practice. it dosent measure to decent sports=footbal, soccer, and hockey When are people going to stop talking about stuff they really have no idea about. Not a team sport. Such crap. There is a reason the US hasnt been able to win in the olympics. Because they throw a team together and cant play as a team like the other teams competing. forum=opinions discussed. and i didnt say it couldnt be played as a team sport. i said it wasnt a true team sport. if it were. it would be impossible to play one on one. Any sport takes disclipine and talent. <this is VERY true...but i was COMPARING it to the other sports in the US. check the ESPN magazine pole from a few issues back about opinion and perception of pro athletes...NBA dosent fare too well. isnt it obvious? the NBA has degenerated into crap. its only worth watching during the playoffs, and they know it, so they up the games to 7 and recently BOOM all of a sudden EVERY GAME is going to the 7th?!?? come on now, you can TELL they are playing and toying around. remember, the players get extra$ for every game they play in the playoffs too! look up what rasheed wallace said..."its entertainment" he hinted at the games being fixed, which i realized A LONG time ago. (obviously). BUT look at how many people are actually REALLY GOOD at baskeball compared to other sports. ALOT...i mean A WHOLE LOT. its a poplular sport, EASY to play, and intense practice can help almost any one good at it. alot of other sports you just cant do that. hell...it takes discipline and talent to be the best at anything. just some more than others. ie: allen iverson one of the best...not taking practice seriously... you can usually get away with that in basketball. but hey, its just an opinion. It takes plenty of discipline to play within an offensive and defensive system. When it comes to baskeball players, NBA has the best in the world hands down. i remember reading a couple things sports illustrated about why we didnt win the olympics and i remember a few things sticking out some players (ie: shaq and some other top tier athletes in NBA) didn't want to get injured or risk their own personal safety (i don't think many people liked us after bush declared a bad war) Some were injured? the world has caught up.... and i mean the level of talent in other countries since going against the last dream team has raised exponentially! Fundamental basketball is given more value in the European countries. alot of the players/teams are VERY sound Team fluidity. the USA team for lack of better words was slapped together and sent out there against fundamentally sound guys whom have been playing as a team, together for years. Coaching /rules i SERIOUSLY doubt that it will happen again anytime soon they rectified the situation. it was REALLY embarassing for us as a country who invented the sport. -------------------- |

My crew routinely beat other teams in pickup games even though we played against guys who towered over us and could dunk. Why? Because we understood how to play basketball while those other guys only knew how to exploit their natural gifts in 1v1 situations.
There are way too many Kwame Browns in the NBA and not enough Nashes, Battiers, and Hamiltons.... So until TEAM USA figures that out and kick guys like Kobe, Melo, and Wade off the roster, they aren't brining the gold back home anytime soon... It takes plenty of discipline to play within an offensive and defensive system. NBA is by far the best LEAGUE in the world...the reason that never translate in world tournaments is because we play "ME" ball. Also whoever organized the roster was an absolute MORON and didnt bother to put in any perimeter shooters. The reason we got gold w/ Coach K was because we had a great coach that understood the fundamentals of TEAM ball and also had great perimeter shooters like Michael Redd (which we never had before...all we had were slashers). International teams are so fundamentally sound and are great perimeter shooters. They're TECHNICIANS and they rely on technical play because they arent as athletically gifted as the U.S. teams. International teams have great outside shooters and have great individual players but as far as league play goes, they can't even compare to the NBA. -------------------- Note to new members. As for the scandal situation, the solution is not to pay the refs more money. Even if the league paid them more money, they'd still be doing this (its human nature...the rich would still want to get richer) and Stern needs to come up with harsher punishments. Stern needs to come out and call out all those corrupt refs (like the Mitchell report) before this reaches congress; which will KILL the NBA if this happens. This kinda makes u wonder about last years playoffs where Robert Horry hipchecked Steve Nash and Amare Stoudamire and i think Barbosa got suspended for just taking 5 steps onto the court (LAME). I think that series was fixed. The Suns were in control of that series until that 1 game suspension. Stern needs to get more strict with his refs and enforce harsher punishments...like being banned from the league if this cr*p happens again.
